I have upgraded #! to jessie then stretch. It all seems to have gone well until I in stalled nvidia drivers via smxi. When I tried to in stall cuda toolkit, nvidia-installer-cleanup would just hang seemingly doing nothing {I let it go for days} I found this https://crunchbang.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=22166, but post is now incomplete ?? Would anyone be so kind to help?
PS yes I have reasons to upgrade #! instead of using bunsenlabs

Others have had problems recently with that (silly) script, why not try the Debian Way instead?

@dove
Do you want the cuda toolkit (which is a monster 1G download for a package!) because you want to run Blender with GPU rendering? If so, there is no need to bother if you d/l the self-contained Blender release. It includes the necessary libraries, and is run from the executable in wherever you unzipped to.

@Dove, depending on the card model, this will stop working at some point. For example on this mac pro and my old gt 9500 the game is over with cuda upgrades on mac side and linux version of Blender seems to refuse gpu rendering of any kind as well. I could be missing something though, but no real time for blender lately, so didn't dig deep.
What card is it?
