[CLOSED] stretch/Helium gtk3

Please discuss issues in the Helium Theme thread, thanks! -hhh

********

As most everyone knows, GNOME broke themes again in gtk3 3.20 and higher (stretch uses 3.22). I've been working on a theme based on Greybird, you can see the discussion up till now, my current notes and links to the theme download and screenshots at GitHub...

This thread is for notes and discussion for forum members who haven't yet or don't want to create a GitHub account, and to post progress as it happens.

To disable the "overlay scrollbars" 'feature' (thin or invisible scrollbars that expand/appear when your cursor is over them), create the file ~/.xsessionrc with this content and logout...

export GTK_OVERLAY_SCROLLING=0

I don't care what you do at home. Would you care to explain?

If you need a fully function dark theme immediately, I heartily recommend Bluebird by Shimmer Project. There is also Black Mate, available as part of the mate-themes package in Debian.

Re: [CLOSED] stretch/Helium gtk3

Thanks hhh

I've been looking for themes that work in Debian Stretch. I have had a look at your themes on Github. Softwaves & Bunsen-Blackish-Remix from your dev themes repo. seem to work fine.  Bunsen-Blackish-Remix being my current choice.

Re: [CLOSED] stretch/Helium gtk3

Thanks! It's fairly trivial to change the color schemes now that I have a light and dark template. Blackish is a bit too dark for daytime use, so look for a lighter version in the next few days.

Cheers!

Re: [CLOSED] stretch/Helium gtk3

Marking this CLOSED, we don't need 2 threads for themes. See the OP.
