[SOLVED]what has happened to the log out prompt after the last update?

Hi
It's all in the title: what's happened to the classic log out / switch off prompt after the latest update (Mariadb?)
I don't like the new one (ugly); I like to keep things simple and self explanatory - no fuss; how can I get it back please?
