What are the two vertical lines for (red and blue arrows). Why can you turn the volume to about 153% instead of only 100%.

that's pulseaudio specific BS.
recommendation: uninstall pulseaudio (unless you depend on bluetooth).
a very quick search and a very cursory glance didn't reveal any answers, except the obvious ones: if your audio source is too quiet, it can be helpful to be able to raise volume above 100%.
since you took the effort to make a screenshot & mark it, did you also click on the little triangle marked "Advanced"? just wondering what it might show.

I do not recommend uninstalling PulseAudio
@OP: if you decide to strip PulseAudio out, you may have to set your default sound card manually (if you have more than one such device) and you should also remove any asound.conf files and the added autostart stuff if you have followed https://forums.bunsenlabs.org/viewtopic.php?id=2266

I have clicked advanced and there is not much there. I do not use Bluetooth for any reason.
My audio works fine, just curious about the items marked on the image.
