[Solved] - as per johnraff's suggestion, post #18 below: new profile. Now lot's more work to do.

After nearly derailing Horizon_Brave's Hardware Accerlation Questions.. thread it became obvious my problem isn't hardware acceleration but ... I simply can't access some "pages" out there on the web. (Hi H_B)

After reading this in the thread above ... I realized I had an out of date pepperflash.

OK, pepperflash is up to date BUT I still cannot access certain pages.

Most notably one my wife likes is "stuck": http://tn.com.ar/envivo/24hs (live feed of a local TV news station)
[Alt]+[F2] and typing:

firefox http://tn.com.ar/envivo/24hs
chromium http://tn.com.ar/envivo/24hs
palemoon http://tn.com.ar/envivo/24hs
midori http://tn.com.ar/envivo/24hs

... one at a time of course. And I see this flashing on and off in all browsers ... finally got an image so I can type it:

The media could not be loaded, either because the server or network failed or because the format is not supported.

At one point Midori also showed:

JavaScript: Navegador sin "Adobe Flash" (more text but ... I missed it)

HOWEVER: much to my {insert some really not nice stuff here}

google-chrome http://tn.com.ar/envivo/24hs

works just fine ... and also on three other sites she was having problems with (concerning passwords and billing info ... so forget the links).

One more point: All of the browsers display videos and my wifes .swf games properly.

Except for FireFox - I have to click the |> start triangle a couple of times but it always works.

So good people ... what's up?

Do I really have to rely on "google-chrome"? 8.(
Is there a way to have pepperflash recognized system wide?
Is there something else that can be done to get these browsers working?

In Palemoon, video doesn't show:

(NB: youtube works almost as expected on Palemoon.)

However, in iceweasel, video works normally:

You're just referring to flash embedded sites right? (Hi s11!) You may want to edit your title, it's a bit vague..

So what is your 'preferred' browser to use anyway? Obviously not google-chrome... Is it firefox?
Did you try the NPAPI plugin from here for firefox:

I'm still a bit surprised that Adobe is picking up the slack and providing updates for the 64 and 32 bit PPAPI...

Title edited... I'm guessing I'll have to remove bunsen-pepperflash for that - easy enough to do and add back if needed..

Preferred browser is: FF with Palemoon or Midori as a backup.

OK, got it ... or getting it.

Since the bunsen-pepperflash package downloaded directly from Adobe what's the advantage of getting from the Adobe site?

Looks like john says ... the bunsen package installs: libpepflashplayer.so directly from Adobe and that's what GC is using.

I can confirm that the troublesome site plays just fine in my BunsenLabs system:

As you can see, this is in firefox-esr and I think the key points here are that noscript is completely disabled and:

Since my last post. I have removed firefox-esr and installed "FireFox (50-something)" and had the same error so I removed that and reinstalled firefox-esr.

True, although another workaround is to install browser-plugin-freshplayer-pepperflash --without-recommends.
...or install them both together in the same apt-get command.

@Sector11 if it's any encouragement, I could view that TV page OK on Firefox (50.1.0), after repeated clicks on NoScript's "temporarily allow all on this page" button.

I don't know why freshwrapper is reporting the wrong version (manifest.json is available in the same directory as the flash plugin) but if you right-click in a Flash window you can see the version actually being used.

@H_B you can install the flash library directly, but if you use bunsen-pepperflash it will be automatically upgraded (checked daily). I think yours is already out of date, in fact.

Hi john, I'm sure it 'should' work and I'll keep trying. Mean time I have direct links for my wife in her OB Menu area to use GoogleChrome for just those, now 4 sites. Anyway as I said I have installed various browsers and uninstalled 'anything' flash here and reinstalled (without recommends). I'll keep plugung away at this as I see it does work.

Oh and one last thing, I have disabled every "addon" and that "Open H264 thing" plugin. No go!

Sector11, wait, have you been keeping the h264 codec disabled while trying to troubleshoot this? I'm not sure but h264 is for the decoding and playback of mpeg video... Maybe you should have this enabled, along with the pepperflash

Well, I don't think that makes a difference. Do you have it in your "Plugins" and does it say:
"... will be installed shortly" ever since I've seen it there?

A systemd timer will run the upgrade check every day.
To change this behaviour, copy /lib/systemd/system/bunsen-pepperflash.timer to

Well crap, I either forgot or didn't know about the self updating flash daemon! That's a really good idea in keeping the security stuff pushed out. I'll switch over the bunsen-pepperflash package and get back the freshplayer for FF

That text is nowhere in any welcome script that I wrote! (Unless my memory has finally gone...)
It is in the README file of the bunsen-pepperflash package though.
Anyway, there's no need to pay any attention to that stuff unless a daily check is not what you want.

@Sector11 how about creating a new vanilla Firefox profile - no addons, no special config - and seeing if flash works there?

Also...couldn't doing something like an 'strace' of firefox when you have flash installed, and navigating to the desired flash page, reveal anything? Rather or not any calls from the browser were being made, and where to, if they were pointed to the proper files etc..?

I don't have uMatrix - never heard of it until now.

Things I have done:

1. disabled ALL addons: did not work.
2. set "never activate" OPENH246: did not work
3. set "always activate" OPENH246: did not work
4. uninstalled all things flash - and reinstalled Bunsen pepperflash as noted above: did not work
5a. uninstalled all things flash,
5b. uninstalled FF-esr - installed real FF (v50)
5c. reinstalled bunsen pepperflash: did not work
