Not sure which .iso to download for installation on my old Toshiba Satellite L650 with an Intel i5, 4GB RAM, 64 bit laptop.
Any advice appreciated, Thanks.

My "old" as in ancient, is a Toshiba Satellite 650 Laptop -- old Crunchbang-11 x64 -- works like charm.
I have put any OS-Distro other than Debian / LinuxMint / Crunchbang on it - ever.
I don't know if Bunsen-Labs will work - I would give a shot.

bl-Hydrogen-amd64_20160710.iso is highly definitely positively recommende for your laptop

If you have a 64-bit machine then you should use a 64-bit operating system, 4GiB of RAM is almost excessive for BL unless you like VMs

Many thanks for the great replies.
I wasn't sure about bl-Hydrogen-amd64_20160710.iso because it says AMD and mine is intel.
More confident now after your recommendation so I will go ahead now and use that one.

Yes, 4Gb probably excessive, but I was given this machine so I'm using it to play with.

The amd64 refers to the instruction set that the kernel is built against. It's the shorter version of x86-64 which was designed and popularized by AMD, and is the standard that all modern x86 based processors use. If you want a deeper look at the details you can read more about it here -> https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/X86-64

^I can remember having the exact same issue some years ago. To be honest, I thought back then that this is just hilarious: There are two major processor manufacturers, intel and amd. Now i'm looking for the right iso and the one said "amd 64". I did not have amd. So I was looking further for the right one. Fortunately it was easy to find the explanation, but if someone is unexperienced with linux - or maybe with computers in general -, it's just against pure logic, to take an amd iso for an intel processor. Now I can laugh about myself back then, but these kind of things just happen sometimes (I also remember the question I asked myself long time ago: "Why on earth do I have to go to "battery", if i want to adjust the screen brightness?" But I get the logic now ).
