[Solved] existing Waldorf Crunchbang convert to Bunsen?

Is it possible to simply convert Waldorf Crunchbang to Bunsenlabs, or is a fresh install necessary?
(using a very old laptop non-pae)

I would recommend a fresh install.

There is no officially supported method of progressing from #! to BL

There is no endorsed method, but it's 100% possible since Debian allows for it. Generic outline:

Remove all Waldorf repositories.

First, find the release notes for your architecture and upgrade the system to jessie. You probably do not have to read all the details but look out for the caveats list in section 5.

During dist-upgrading, all incompatible Waldorf packages will get removed. Remove the rest of them also.

After upgrading the base system to jessie, add our Hydrogen repo (instructions for setting up the signing key are here. Install bunsen-meta-all.

To be sure all the configs are BL, you may create a new user; or copy the relevant parts in /etc/skel over to your current home directory (for example, you might want to just get the Openbox configuration).

IMHO a fresh install is unnecessary as BL is just userspace.

Meh.

@OP: Be sure to follow *all* of the advice given here if you elect to upgrade rather than re-install:

The .iso for fresh installing was on DVD before I read the second reply - something tells me I should see that as a sign and stick to fresh install :-)
Thanks nevertheless for the information and link.

HowTo material if any of us have time.

I don't care what you do at home. Would you care to explain?
