Re: .Xresources / .Xdefaults Thread

These are cool too. The amazing crayolo colorsets by dkeg plus the LinuxBBQ xcolors sets (by dkeg too, if I'm not wrong).

https://github.com/dkeg/crayolo

See them elegantly applied. (scroll down and enjoy) These are 8 color sets. I tend to prefer them over the usual 16 colors palette.

https://github.com/dkeg/scrots

The BBQ colors are also great stuff. Check the dkeger script to switch the colors on the fly

https://github.com/linuxbbq/xcolors.git

Re: .Xresources / .Xdefaults Thread

I'm a fan of Rhowaldt's palleter-script, which extracts a palette from an image by Imagemagick. It can be found at least in fog's blog:
https://irenegr.wordpress.com/2013/11/0 … -you-like/
(It's in greek but you can easily spot and copypaste the code.)

Thanks ohnonot.
Yes I do but don't have them up anywhere yet. If you'd like any of them I'd share.
They usually consist of:
# herbstluftwm
# dzen2 panel
# gtkrc
# xresources
# zathurarc
# dmenu
# userContent.css
# vimperator

It's not that good, but it does the job anyway. I could switch to Solarized, but both light and dark theme have the same problem: the directories are highlighted with not-that-good-with-the-eyes colors. But I don't know how to change just the directory highlighter color.

Are you referring to the background color of mounted directories? That would be URxvt.color2 (dark green)
It's hard to get things to go well across all applications.
You fix one color for application A but then it fulgies application B

#example
(dark green) URxvt.color2 will also affect:  htop's banner color, alsamixer's bottom vol bar
(light green) URxvt.color10 will affect executable's colors
(light blue) URxvt.color12 actual directory color

So, season and taste I say.

Re: .Xresources / .Xdefaults Thread

Are you referring to the background color of mounted directories? That would be URxvt.color2 (dark green)

Thank you, gako! It didn't occur to me that I could easily find out the color by comparing the two Xdefaults file. Anyway, now that you made my work easier, thanks to you, now I changed the urxvt.color2 color to that of urxvt.background. This makes mounted directories' color same as that of regular directories.
Thank you again.
Here's the current screen-shot:

Looks good tranjeeshan!

About that, I admire your paper-themed color scheme. I think it's easy on eyes and looks awesome, too.

Re: .Xresources / .Xdefaults Thread

On another note, why would anyone want to highlight the mounted directories? Does that serve special purposes?

Re: .Xresources / .Xdefaults Thread

I could see it being useful to know that a directory is actively mounted.

Maybe take a look at this script to see some color outputs for your personal xcolor setup.

#!/bin/bash
eval $(echo "no:global default;fi:normal file;di:directory;ln:symbolic link;pi:named pipe;so:socket;do:door;bd:block device;cd:character device;or:orphan symlink;mi:missing file;su:set uid;sg:set gid;tw:sticky other writable;ow:other writable;st:sticky;ex:executable;"|sed -e 's/:/="/g; s/\;/"\n/g')
{
IFS=:
for i in $LS_COLORS
do
echo -e "\e[${i#*=}m$( x=${i%=*}; [ "${!x}" ] && echo "${!x}" || echo "$x" )\e[m"
done
}

or even

dircolors --print-database
