Unofficial 586 kernel ISO

This is an unofficial build for older computers. The 586 kernel is included but if you have a 686-pae capable machine and you install this, our Welcome script will offer to update the kernel on first-boot. Eventually, this ISO will be CD sized and "Official".

Re: Unofficial 586 kernel ISO

Nice...Are we slowly working our way towards full backwards compatibility for older pc's? How far back do you guys plan on taking us?

Why unofficial, and 'eventually' official? You could just submit this to me and we'd do a proper release?

I figured you would ask that. monkey

Unofficial because it's not CD sized yet. I'd like to work on it a few more days before I submit it. Its purpose is to get me started on the project, which has been a forum request since the beginning of October...

Re: Unofficial 586 kernel ISO

Really thanks for the new ISO. I really need that to revive and old Compaq Laptop based on Pentium M.
It worked like a charm.
Regards.

Re: Unofficial 586 kernel ISO

Thank you so much for the new i586 iso! I discovered CrunchBang just in time for the distro End-of-Life; I've been watching and waiting for BunsenLabs to issue a version that would work for my original-owner low-mileage 2003 Dell D800 Latitude Pentium M (Banias) notebook. I'm trying out the Live-version and I must say Great Work! My screen resolution was correctly detected, my wifi worked out-of-the box and typing this in Iceweasel is only showing 231M RAM usage at 4% CPU. I look forward to installing and running BunsenLabs Hydrogen very soon as my installed system.

Again, thanks for the great work!
