^ Not quite. It was first suggested by: daosein (2015-02-20) where s/he said:
The periodic table has some wonderful options for version names as well.
and you replied in the very next post:
daosein wrote:...we have the whole discipline of chemistry to draw upon from lab equipment to molecules to the symbols of the periodic table....
Someone has been reading my mind!
daosein wrote:..The periodic table has some wonderful options for version names as well...
Now that is a neat idea
So in all fairness it's only right to give daosein credit. Although, like iMBeCil in the other thread, you and I picked up the ball and ran with it.
LOGO: OK, that I can agree with. Our ever burning flame logo.

^ I think where you came in was suggesting following the periodic table from the first element to the end. Not 100% certain on that though.
Have we come up with an "official", be it semi or quasi-official, BunsenLabs name for a version upgraded to SID? I know "#! Animal" was quite popular.

I recall suggesting "Beaker", although an unstable isotope name could be appropriate: "BunsenLabs Uranium" sounds cool
"BunsenBurner"?

How about Deuterium for a testing base & Tritium for an unstable base?
Not enough isotopes for the other releases though
Then there are the Carbon allotropes, BunsenLabs Diamond edition is just begging to be made
And the almost mythical BLBMF (BunsenLabsBuckMinsterFullerine) 8o

I hope you aren't taking any offence here. I certainly didn't mean any at all ... just my weird sense of humour I guess.
Who? Me? Taking offense? You mad bro?
Of course not. I know that virtually all people here - including you Sector - are good hearted. Srsly.
Anyway, thanks for inserting me in the famous history of the BL. I'm honored. Really. Something to show to grandchildren in - let's say - 10 years from now.

Yea, I recall something about Beaker.
@damo and HoaS - I'm not looking to turn this in to a "name" thread, just wondering IF we had one.
I'll ask these again:
Should we have a "BunsenLabs Day" and if 'yes', what day?
tknomanzr actually made a good observation there. Because of the way calendar works, maybe it's better to put the "year" at the end of the lines:
Feb 06 2015 - corenominal announces the end of CrunchBang
http://crunchbang.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=38916
Feb 06 corenominal announces the end of CrunchBang, 2015
http://crunchbang.org/forums/viewtopic.php?id=38916
Put the year at the beginning or the end?
Thoughts please - I'll go with the flow.

Would it be possible to put the year before the month? That way you could sort by year, then by month.

And again: yes ]:D
As for the date: I suggest the (future) date, one when official, non-beta and non-RC iso will be published.

Not according to 'man calendar'. Just days and months with three options of entry:
/* TEST */
21 Feb This is a test of 21 Feb
Feb 21 This is a test of Feb 21
02/21 This is a test of 02/21
But the 'ouput' will always be: mmm dd[tab]text

Now THAT is a thought!
The day BunsenLabs v8.x (Hydrogen) ISO - final release hits the interwebs we proclaim: BunsenLabs Day.
After all, everything up to that time is - spit and polish.

If I'm understanding this right, there's no way to get all the entries in true chronological order - ie without 2016 entries mixed in with 2015? That would be preferable IMHO, if at all possible.

@ohnonot...again
Ahhhhhhhh the cbbl cookies ... must get those. What date should I use? The original #! date? Or the date the thread was opened here?
@johnraff
No - 'calendar' does not work in chronological order as far as years are concerned.. Just from 1 Jan to 31 Dec - that's why the years are added in the text part. You can enter the day/month info (format seen above) in any order:
22 Mar This is 22 Mar
10 Feb This is 10 Feb
15 Dec Christmas in 10 days
Jul 1 It's the 1st of July
and they will display correctly (in the US format of: mmm dd),
Feb 10 This is 10 Feb
Mar 22 This is 22 Mar
Jul 1 It's the 1st of July
Dec 15 Christmas in 10 days
If you type 'calendar' in a terminal you should see the same as I do today and tomorrows entries in /usr/share/calendar/calendar.all:
22 Feb 16 @ 12:40:12 ~
$ calendar
Feb 22 George Washington born, 1732
Feb 22 Pierre Jules Cesar Janssen born, 1838, found hydrogen in the sun
Feb 22 Passing of King Ellesar
Feb 22* Parshat Vayakhel
Feb 22 Brooks Davis <brooks@FreeBSD.org> born in Longview, Washington, United States, 1976
Feb 22 Jake Burkholder <jake@FreeBSD.org> born in Maynooth, Ontario, Canada, 1979
Feb 22 Bonne fête aux Isabelle !
Feb 22 Neige à la sainte Isabelle

Feb 22 Gerzson
Feb 23 W.E.B. DuBois born, 1868
Feb 23 Lt. Calley confesses, implicates Cpt. Medina, 1971
Feb 23 Republic Day in Guyana
Feb 23 George Friedrich Handel is born in Halle on the Saale, Germany, 1685
Feb 23 Johnny Winter is born in Leland, Mississippi, 1944
Feb 23 Peter Wemm <peter@FreeBSD.org> born in Perth, Western Australia, Australia, 1971
Feb 23 Georg Friedrich Händel in Halle an der Saale geboren, 1685
Feb 23 Alfréd
Feb 23 День защитника Отечества
Feb 23 День победы Красной Армии над кайзеровскими войсками Германии (1918 год)
and if I use " faketime "20 Feb 2016" " with the bunsen calendar I'm working on you would see entries for the 20th and 21st:
22 Feb 16 @ 12:51:26 ~
$ faketime "20 Feb 2016" calendar -f ~/.calendar.bunsen
Feb 20 2016 - BunsenLabs History calendar file created
https://forums.bunsenlabs.org/viewtopic.php?id=1359
Feb 21 This is a test of 21 Feb
Feb 21 This is a test of Feb 21
Feb 21 This is a test of 02/21
Feb 22* Parshat Vayakhel
that * indicates and entry like: Feb MonFourth

I really would love the unstable isotope or one of the newer elements used as a name for this! Uranium has my vote!

I suppose we could go with one of the superheavy elements for Unstable. What's the heaviest that has been named at this point - Livermorium?
I think that after "Beaker" had been proposed as a possible alias for Unstable, I suggested "Crucible" for Testing. We might also think about going quantum for the names of Testing and Unstable. Many more dimensions to explore there - a total of 11 as I understand it.
Be excellent to each other, and...party on, dudes!

@Sector11 ah I see - so Calendar's like a real calendar with Important Dates marked, regardless of year. More for commemoration than archiving. "So today's BunsenLabs First GitHub Repo Day!!"
I think that after "Beaker" had been proposed as a possible alias for Unstable, I suggested "Crucible" for Testing.
Kind of like both those. All those element names could get a bit boring...
