Free Software Only option

Hi everyone

I think it would be really cool if the welcome script would ask permission to enable contrib and non-free repositories.

People like me who cares to install only free software would like it a lot.

I know that it is really a breeze to remove the unwanted packages (sudo apt-get install vrms; sudo apt-get purge `vrms -s`).. but I think that it will be appreciated

What do you think about it?

Without some non-free packages then many people wouldn't have a wireless connection, for example.

What you can do though is do a Debian jessie netinstall, then run @johnraff's BL netinstall script to d/l the github packages and build them locally. The method is described on the Bunsenlabs Installation page

^Or use the Official jessie ISOs and add the BL repository. But the OP's purge command looks like the easiest route.

Not at my bunsenlabs PC right now, but I thought that bl by default already only uses the main repos. To use only free software, don't you just need to remove the contrib and non-free tags from the /etc/apt/sources.list file?

^ We have to include a bit of non-free and contrib; at the very least most people's wlan won't work without certain binary blobs, and many wired network adapters require non-free blobs for full functionality.  I've also read that there are many printers and even some SATA disk drives that require vendor-specific non-free drivers.

Ugh it still bothers me that AMD has yet to embrace the Linux/FOSS community more by providing a branch of their development for open source.
