Wow! I am glad that I wound up on the right team, though it is clear that it is only but luck and guess-work on my part, as I don't even understand the wherefores there. I only asked because I am without the wherewithall to do things like compile installs and such, presently, and this thing "nodejs" and "npm" too, BTW, seem to be "central" element of the stuff I want to begin messing with.

It seems that much of the "new" "fun" stuff is going the way of NodeJs and NPM ...at least the things that appeal to me:

so far: Google's Web Dev Learning Tool: "Coder" | A silly package called "castnow" that allows for linux command-line driven chromecasting. | and all things "geo" and web nowadays like Mapbox

And I only asked because when I have attempted to install these two "tools" before, it seemed to hose my system, as I probably didn't do it right. And yea, I do understand that these are, generally, "server" tools, but I am able to (mostly) play with a LAMP environment lately without getting bit too hard----though I still stay away from virtual boxes and the arrogant Apple/Ruby fanatics with their "easy" solutions.
