Configure Printers dissappears during "searching for drivers"

using Bunsenlabs RC1
System->Printers->Configure Printers
The network detects all my printers... HL-4040CN, HL4150CDN, etc
But no matter which printer or options I select, when I try to continue, the screen says...
"searching for drivers" for about 1 second
Then everything dissappears

I tried...
sudo apt-get install --reinstall cups
but still having the same problem

I was able to get the printer working by doing this...
System->Printers->Configure Printers
for URI enter DNS name of the printer.. http://HL-4040CN
Select printer from database->Generic->PCL Laser->check duplexer if enabled->Setup the Names and your done

But I noticed on crunchbang (on a different laptop) it detects and uses a pxlcolor driver for the printer.
I have no problems with anything dissappearing on crunchbang, just the bunsenlabs distro.
It seems I cannot select anything except URI for bunsenlabs distro.
or I get the "searching for drivers" for about 1 second
Then everything dissappears

Re: Configure Printers dissappears during "searching for drivers"

Hi,

I have the same problem... I try to connect to localhost:631 through the web interface too, login... but when I go to add a printer, in the new page says: "Error en : Añadir impresora
No se ha podido añadir la impresora:
Prohibido"

Help please! Thanks!

Re: Configure Printers dissappears during "searching for drivers"

@minozu I can recall having similar issues with adding a printer. In my case it was something about a group called lpadmin. Like described on this page, adding the user account to the group lpadmin solved the issue for me.
