When I changed the shell from fish to bash, I had to reboot.
Really? It doesn't make sense. Log out and back in should be enough, unless /sbin/sh link is changed, too. Will check when free.
Cachy is good for newer CPUs, for example V3 or V4. For old hardware, it's not worth it.

^Logout may have been enough, I needed to reboot to run update-grub from my main OS (trixie).

That's right. Log out / log in. Just changed from bash to zsh and that's all it took.
Thinking of something else that required reboot.

Just starting to play with niri on Cachy, by far the coolest thing OOTB is Noctalia shell.

You can set it to adapt your wallpaper colors automatically, and the shell animations are amazing (not shown).
