trixie GNOME / KDE showdown is essentially a tie, with me giving the nod to GNOME because of Wayland-only gdm3. KDE's SDDM pulls in and runs on a bunch of xorg-* packages (for gdm3: x11-common, x11-server-utils and you're good), messy if trying to go full-Wayland.
-edit- scrots, maybe?

Which version of KDE were you using? Plasma 6.4 dropped about a week ago; beginning the official split from X11 for KDE (and I assume SDDM). With Plasma 6.4, there is no longer the option to log into Plasma X11 on the SDDM screen. Arch users got hit with the "manual intervention" notice that plasma-X11 is a separate install ( https://archlinux.org/news/plasma-640-w … re-on-x11/ )
Give your test another run when Plasma 6.4 hits the Sid repos. if it hasn't already.

It won't be in sid for a bit yet, I bet, trixie is about to be released.

Plasma 6.4.0 - same issues with Wayland as before where mouse stops responding in certain virtual machines. Considering that KDE is rapidly moving away from X11 and I am heavy virtualization user, I will have to deal with this issue at some point. Still on X11 session for now.

And now for another GNOME scrot...

Thanks for the link, it was an interesting read.
I encountered some of the bugs mentioned in that text, and few more which were not and probably specific to my hardware setup. Notably, that odd issue with Firefox icon disappearing both in Wayland and X11 session was something that annoyed me enough to pin a random compass icon instead, as shown on my last screenshot. I don't care if it's icon selection or caching bug is the cause, I would just expect not to have this issue in a desktop environment in 2025.
Font rendering is another can of worms I am not happy with neither Wayland or X11 on my machine, and I think it's not particular distro fault. For X11 session I ended up altering monitor geometry in xorg config to make everything look "okay" to my eyes, but some applications still need extra work so I am about half-way there. I didn't previouly go this deep in the fontconfig and I have few more key options to test out and learn if they work fine with my display.

Most definitely. I will install Bunsenlabs on all laptops in my home without searching for an alternative, starting with my wife's, as soon as the Win10 support runs out. BL served me well in one of my previous companies when I had liberty to choose any OS for my work laptop.

^ Looking very good, resource wise and in general. I'll take that wall link, please! Moody.
What's the terminal? There's not a terminal called Console (not Konsole), is there?
-edit- What I additionally need to make GNOME work, at the the very least...
gnome-tweaks (gtk themes, icons, fonts and a few other things)
dconf-editor (to change gsettings via a GUI)
gnome-shell-extension-manager
And some extensions. Dash to Panel, at least.
