Re: March 2024 Screenshot Thread

Yeah, the recovery was actually pretty brilliant, it overwrote the registry while saving here files. The thing is running like new, AFAICT.

She complained that at the time "It happened so fast!" but I let her know how many obvious mistakes she made (she installed the frigging unauthorized-by-Microsoft program they told her to, for freaks sake!) I was gone for literally twenty minutes to get groceries, all she had to do was wait for me. She won't be making that mistake again. She's old and ditzy, but not senile.

On topic with the scrots... Holy Selectors, Batman! That worked!

Love the scrots, you always catch something you missed. A space before the cpu icon, now fixed.

You betcha. I'm very curious which one of us is going to experiment with nwg-shell first. big_smile

https://github.com/nwg-piotr/nwg-shell

It might be me, but I'm still recovering from building the current Hyprland on Ubuntu. Nobody has posted a tutorial, so I had to just hash it out component by component, while not screwing up my GNOME session. Oh, did I mention I'm running current Hyprland (0.37.1) now? Have you heard of hyprpicker, their terminal color-picker tool? How about hyprlock, it beats the hell out of swaylock...

There are also swayidle and hypridle, but I hate automatic locking tools, so I can't comment any more than that.

You win, @Dobbie, I'm all in now. Reduced module icons and fonts, now aligned, terminal colors from the wallpaper via pywal, floating windows because I just posted tiled ones...

I know it's the "extra" repo with "unstable" packages, but I got a chuckle out of reading it as a one-liner.

I don't know what you mean?

Right now I'm dealing with this backdoor of the xz-utils v5.6.0 package in Arch, Debian, Fedora and openSUSE on my 5 siduction installs.

Hours of work. No wonder people who do non-full-desktop-environment setups are so fanatical, it can be literally days, if not weeks, of time invested in them.

It was one of the sources.list lines in this scrot, but the hosting site is down, so no pic = it isn't true.

Anytime, Days to Months and even Year of energy spent to make achievements on setting up things.

After we've done a lot of tweaks, we start over with something else from OS to another OS, WM/DE to another...
I wasted so much of my time over Window Managers, so i find hard to count or remember everything smile

Was not satisfied enough with Mageia so I replaced it with EndeavourOS.  I installed it without a desktop and then added openbox wm later.
