Last one for March.  I spent some time putting some effort into getting Riverwm working nicely.

^ Siduction packages "extra unstable"? big_smile That one's new to me.

I know it's the "extra" repo with "unstable" packages, but I got a chuckle out of reading it as a one-liner.

Nice!

I just worked the issues I was having with dunst on river.  So simple, the size of the notification window wouldn't change, then I noticed scaling was disabled in the config.  Changed that and working as it should.

I put my 3060 back in, made some changes with the instructions from here:
https://www.maketecheasier.com/wayland- … ics-cards/

I have some initial graphical glitches but they settle down after a few seconds and so far it is rock solid.

Some random tweaks; mostly module spacing and padding in polybar -

It's gotta be Papirus Black. right?

https://github.com/PapirusDevelopmentTe … us-folders

OK, y'all dragged me back in. Any reason not to try mako for notifications? It's very styleable.

https://packages.debian.org/bookworm/mako-notifier
https://github.com/emersion/mako
https://archlinux.org/packages/extra/x86_64/mako/

cV1fIEqt.png

Fuzzel menu, mako song-change notification from audacious bottom-right, and been tweaking the hell out of waybar. I must have restarted it a hundred times to test the changes, pretty much nobody does a vertical Waybar online. Trial and error to get it to this point (get back in line, RAM icon!) No active taskbar button shown, the apps are on workspaces 1, 2 and 3.

The CPU and RAM icons shift left when the percentage hits double digits. I'm using line breaks (\n) in the waybar config, haven't found another way yet. Probably a solution via style.css. I should open an issue on their github page to find out.

-edit- I guess this the solution for the modules, just need to figure out the config now...

Re: March 2024 Screenshot Thread

I put a different wall of that same (similar? Different angle? Shot from the other side?) pic on my mom's Windows 10 desktop 2 days ago. I had to do a system recovery, she got scammed (she's 82). I walked in and she had given some guys from Pakistan full remote to her desktop, they were typing stuff into Power Shell while she had Edge opened and logged into her bank account. Also had to shut the account down, cancel the fund transfer and open a new account. Nightmare.

Wall...

https://bingwallpaper.anerg.com/detail/uk/LakeTahoeRock

The Windows reinstall from the recovery partition took 11 hours. Freaking Windows. 88% installed... 6 hours later, 88% installed ("Don't turn off your computer.")

@PackRat, nice theme to match your wall, btw.

Whaat!! That's awful. Hardly bears thinking about if you hadn't showed up just then.

Is there anything you can do to make things a bit safer for her? At least a daily limit on the size of transfers? Or automatic email notifications to you? Some locks on remote access that only you can open?

Gulp.

It did eventually complete, right?
