@PackRat, Does spectrwm provide the panel bar or is that a custom bar you made
That is spectrwm builtin bar. I use a conkyrc with no-x for the system information.
If desired, you can use other panel applications like lemonbar or polybar to get more functionality - the spectrwm bar is not clickable, for example.
You must unlearn what you have learned.

I'm using scrotwm for work now, I got so used to the workspace management there, it is out of this world. I tried to work in Gnome, but deinstalled everything when I saw how much quicker I was in scrotum.
I do so little actual work, or anything, on my laptop, so GNOME is nice, GNOME is fairly unified now and it's easy and pretty. Most of the time my screen is a nice clock, my choice of DE/WM is basically irrelevant for my work.
"nice clock", pic or it didn't happen...
I don't care what you do at home. Would you care to explain?

With dual screens I've been using this analog clock for a while now

2023 Audi Q3, Sapphire Blue. It's not mine (it's my 81 year old mother's, she's finally developed a taste for good cars), but I drove it up the street and took the pic. The bokah is natural, it's parked by a lake with houses and lights all around...
BTW, the auto is sa-wEET! Go VW, pay those massive fines and let Audi alone now that you have it in order. Also Porsche. Go nuts with Bentley, that's all on you.
