do a GNOME Boron release as well as OpenBox?

here's a serious response: it would need a thorough discussion

Not too early for that discussing to start. hhh has a point, maybe. Gnome (and all the suck that is gnome) plus bright, colorful themes appeal to younger users (the future). Sorry, I didn't have a nicer example on the image host.

IMO, BL is already far enough away from #! to drop the "The project is a community continuation of CrunchBang Linux." Maybe "grew out of" is closer. If anyone would like a reminder;

https://forum.archlabslinux.com/t/march … ght_bit_al

#! and BLOB are polar opposites. Not a put-down; I think BL is better going in it's current direction. I the future as see less and less users who want a do it yourself WM/DE who haven't switched to Arch or Void, or ....

There is grumbling about the new Gnome 43 changing things and users are already complaining. That is likely to be the future of Gnome, change for the sake of change.

Bookworm will likely be out in late April or early May, and ... we really should try our best not to be too long after that with Boron.

This is what's important. Please find some way for me to help.

BLOB is just a utility for easy theme-switching, not an OS. You meant BL maybe?

OK I'll post a list of the remaining tasks very soon (not today though) and explain where people can help.
Testing (as you eight.bit.al have been kind enough to do with BLOB) is already huge.

this needs it own thread

True. I guess the above "to-do" thread will do.

A separate one to discuss GNOME, but I won't be joining in any discussion there till Boron is out. I really don't have the mental energy right now.

#! - basic concept is bare minimum, configure it yourself. BLOB is just the opposite. That's why I say BL is no longer "a community continuation of CrunchBang Linux" and should be changed to "grew out of" instead. Thankfully, BL is not a bare minimum, configure it yourself OS. Interest in that kinda OS has been dropping, IMHO.

Well... you can still configure BL the #! way. In fact, if you want anything outside the defaults you have to do that. BLOB is a utility, occupying a few kB, going up to a MB or so if the user stores some themes. Users are quite free to ignore it and go on using BL like CrunchBang. But you're still right - BL has evolved a bit from #! in other ways. Maybe the biggest is that it has its own X session set up, the same way LXDE or XFCE do. It no longer takes over the whole machine.

Eine neue Wall (adni 18) nur das Logo des Fensters durch das von Mandriva ersetzen.

Ich werde auch mein conky radiotray in demselben Theme neu gestalten, damit es besser passt.

There is grumbling about any new version of Gnome changing things and users are always complaining. But since it is probably the most popular free software UI, users are quick to put a stop to developer madness with extensions and stuff. I like hhh's idea of a Gnome spin to BL. It will make him work on his CSS skills.

Absolument brillant ! Félicitations pour ce chef-d'œuvre.

loutch, laisse-moi deviner :
mageia5, xfce, conky1.9, imageDraw ?
Qu'est-ce que c'est que ces 'fenêtres' aux coins arrondis ?

En fait, il ne te manque plus que de réussir la barre/barre avec des coins arrondis..,

Un chef-d'œuvre !  DTR6bWH.png

-------------------
Absolutely brilliant! Congratulations on this masterpiece.

loutch, let me guess:
mageia5, xfce, conky1.9, imageDraw ?
What are those 'windows' with round corners?

All that's really missing is that you create the bar/bar with round corners...,

A masterpiece!

Hello

Danke

Die Bilder habe ich einem rainmeter skin von Adni18 entnommen.

Nicht Mageia5 sondern Xubuntu 22.04
conky in Version 1.10
und natürlich imagedraw.lua

Die Rundung der Bar/Bar ist eine andere Sache.

Thanks

I took the pictures from a rainmeter skin by Adni18.

Not Mageia5 but Xubuntu 22.04
conky in version 1.10
and of course imagedraw.lua

Screw cascading style sheets, I'll just install and pre-configure the extensions and themes I use and y'all can have fun with it. I love GNOME, I can't wait to try the new version.

I'm using scrotwm for work now, I got so used to the workspace management there, it is out of this world. I tried to work in Gnome, but deinstalled everything when I saw how much quicker I was in scrotum.
