Re: July 2021 Screenshots

In this screenshot; W11:

working.th.png

The window corners are odd. The ones for the newer dialogs have lighter areas. As soon as one mouses into the lighter area; the resize arrow shows. Is it a bug or a feature? [edit: rhetorical question, thanks smile]

It's a feature! It tests your monitor resolution.

plasma 5.22.3; many gimmicks, partly confusing and clearly "too bold" for me.

the conky's got a frame (which looks more pleasing)  wink , if already the round (cairo)corners were abolished again in this version.   hmm

Went back to default theme, my user.json so far

{
  "ui_sidebar_show" : false,
  "ui_theme" : "",
  "ui_theme_syntax" : "",
  "ui_toolbar_show" : false,
  "font_name" : "Fantasque Sans Mono",
  "font_size" : 13,
  "wrap_enabled_max_lines" : 160000,
  "mouse_wheel_zoom" : true
}

and keys.json (adding ctrl++ and ctrl +' and ctrl +0 for font sizes, seems to be using some default keyboard map, not sure)

{
  "2566" : {
    "name" : "settings: font size: reset",
    "s1" : [
      "Ctrl+0"

Installed the GTK2 version.
Very interesting. Lightweight. Tons of plugins. How have I never heard of this before?
No telemetry I hope?

Thanks! Just install and try it out! When logging in, you can select whether to use i3 or Openbox as your desktopmanager. If you don't like it, just uninstall it. It's a very small application anyways.

What I like about it, is that you can use your keyboard way more, and all windows alwas take up as much space as they have available. Also there's no compositing, so the whole experience is less demanding.

sudo apt install i3

PM me if you want configs!

No idea why RAM is so high ATM, but the fan is running at low so all good...

kIvV4q9t.png

-edit- And when I closed all windows it went down to 1G, Firefox must have been sucking some RAM at the time. I just updated as well, I forgot the new version came out today.

Re: July 2021 Screenshots

Happy Sunday. smile

linux.th.png

screen-info.th.png

W11 Taskbar is an epic fail.

After years of being the easiest OS to move the TB.
M$: "Look at our new TaskBar. We're so proud of it, we're not gunna let you change it".

MAC lookin'; been done by everyone and their cousin;
thank science the icons don't pulse when you mouse over them.

I would be somewhat appeased if I could even just choose which monitor to put it on...

edit 5 or 6, I guess this is.

W11's general screen rendering is noticeably nicer than
the three Linux distros tested on the same hardware.
