johnraff wrote:@ohnonot and @nili I still haven't grasped what tint2 executors are doing that buttons don't do. A hint?
Sorry or the late reply.
Executors can display dynamic content right in the panel - text/images changing with every automated execution of the command. And react to clicks.
I can't live without it because when I listen to music I need to see some metadata.xfce4-panel has a similar plugin (Generic Monitor) but it's not clickable and doesn't support images afaics. tint2 is really unsurpassed in that respect.
Thanks! That does make them look worth checking out.
It sounds as if you'd be able to make something like a customizable systray icon?

Yes, you can output only a path to an icon, without text.
tint2 has 2 ways to accomplish this:
execute the command in regular intervals
run the command continuously and display the last n lines every few seconds

Red, black and blue - nothing special:
Special for August though?
-edit by hhh- I messed this forum moderation up, sorry. I meant to move @Sector11's scrot from the August thread to here, but I've somehow deleted it. I think I still have the link to the screenshot though...

I'm usually fine with it, but I royally hosed this edit up. Not sure why Dobbie ended up being the author while I'm still the OP. The second page of my merge somehow took precendent or something. Oopsy.

Good morning, good afternoon, good evening only 5 or 6 days late New Zealand!
Let the scrots commence.
Welcome to the Sept 2020 Scrot thread! This is where you can post screenshots of your setup, as long as it's in line with our somewhat elaborate rules and instructions...
Please use thumbnails. Do not embed images larger than approx 250x250px (62,500px) into posts, use thumbnails linking to a hosted image instead. Thanks!
Various online free image hosts are available, such as Imgur, imgbb, freeimage.host, scrot.cloud, postimg.cc, etc...
Use the following BB code for posting please:
** Update for Imgur users **
Imgur only provides the link to the full image, but just add "t" to the name to get a thumbnail link, and the filename extension eg:
Imgur also provides a variety of thumbnail sizes, and the linked BBCode, in the image "View and edit" screen.
imgur wrote:
Sizes: Original · Small Square · Big Square · Small Thumbnail · Medium Thumbnail · Large Thumbnail · Huge Thumbnail
Repeat: To get the linked direct image you need make sure to add the file extension to the url. Their recommended BB code doesn't really convey this properly.
Once again when choosing a thumbnail size please keep in mind our approx 250x250px (62,500px) thumbnail file size constraints.

Sorry everyone, I tried to merge a late post from @Sector11 to this thread and I hosed it to the extreme. This is what's left, mea culpa, let's continue anyways. Fell free to repost your missing scrots.

Finally realized that I also had to create the Desktop folder in Home as well as editing user-dirs.dirs. Plasma on BL Lithium is working now.

Huge drop shadows by default in Plasma. What is that, 30 pixels? Maybe 60 for the bottom shadow...

Compare that last scrot with this one using Lithium Openbox, which uses my preferred Compton settings by default. It's actually pretty similar except for being better in almost every way...
