Windows computers used Arial from Windows 3.1 up until the switch to Calibri starting with Office 2007.

Arial was part of macOS as well, but Helvetica is indeed a Mac staple...

My uneducated guess is: it's a photo.

But OTOH in that case why would you post it here? Which means my second guess is: it's CG.

Item #1: @bronto is a Blender user.
Item #2: It is a unique image on TinEye.
Item #3: It has that CG "feel".

Conclusion: it was made with the new Blender fluid simulation tools...bloody good job as well
