Last time i went to my pc store they tried selling me snake oil, but i suppose ill have to grin and bare bear it for a good quality peripheral.

@OP When I need a good keyboard, then I go to the shop and ask for Logitech keyboards, an not the cheapest models.

But then, I'm not gamer, yet I use a keyboard all the time.

And going to the store and actually trying one or two as damo suggested, is the best advice.

Thanks Imbecil, Damo, you see we have a place where i am called bigw and they have a few keyboards there and i thought atleast a $15 keyboard would be ok, sub par but ok, i thought wrong.

Logitech is there so is microsoft and hp and that cheap no name knock off brand, i just thought someone might have a suggestion away from the monopoly of brands such as this.

Well I am a bit bias, but naturally I would suggest going the mechanical keyboard route, and it's possible yay!

sure the cheaper ones tend to appear gamery, but I am just throwing that option out there.

I haven't exactly used that particular one, but from a lot of those videos about budget mechanical keyboards and even just from other users, they vouch for that, plus for the price for what you get, worth the gamble imo.

Having changed to a mechanical keyboard a couple of years back (plain one without fancy lights thanks) I wouldn't willingly go back to the more common type. They are more expensive though it has to be said.

It looks really nice but dont you miss having a full keyboard?

There is a Fn key on the left, so I guess it enables the top row as function keys?

it's been what, 9 months of full-on usage now. it definitely pays to spend some money on a mechanical keyboard if one is typing as much as I do, but I could've spent just a little more on it and maybe gotten something much better.
two gripes:

it's not clicky and the keys have little resistance. since i'm a hacker in the physical sense, and fat-fingered at that, that's not ideal.
the labels on the top row keys are totally confusing! even after 9 months I have to look closely to find {[]}\?+ and such.

but the overall typing experience is really much better now!

and since i originally bought this to be able to clean it better, i must say: mission accomplished! i can only recommend this open design. I can shake out crumbs & fluff simply by holding the keyboard vertical.
