I hope that is a typo, otherwise you may be arrested for a public order offense :8

^ oops. Typo, no one is seeing my junk for a decent keyboard

@OP When I need a good keyboard, then I go to the shop and ask for Logitech keyboards, an not the cheapest models.
But then, I'm not gamer, yet I use a keyboard all the time.
And going to the store and actually trying one or two as damo suggested, is the best advice.

Thanks Imbecil, Damo, you see we have a place where i am called bigw and they have a few keyboards there and i thought atleast a $15 keyboard would be ok, sub par but ok, i thought wrong.
Logitech is there so is microsoft and hp and that cheap no name knock off brand, i just thought someone might have a suggestion away from the monopoly of brands such as this.

Yeah sure, but until you put your hands on one it is a gamble if you will like it.

Well I am a bit bias, but naturally I would suggest going the mechanical keyboard route, and it's possible yay!
sure the cheaper ones tend to appear gamery, but I am just throwing that option out there.

^ dont like the red BL Keyboard Troll, but i value your input away from some dickhead in a superstore.
I have a feeling you are a bot of some sort though?

^ Hey im just messing with ya. How long have you been using said keyboard brand or said keyboard? What are your thoughts on its quality and build?

I haven't exactly used that particular one, but from a lot of those videos about budget mechanical keyboards and even just from other users, they vouch for that, plus for the price for what you get, worth the gamble imo.

Having changed to a mechanical keyboard a couple of years back (plain one without fancy lights thanks) I wouldn't willingly go back to the more common type. They are more expensive though it has to be said.

I had to buy a new keyboard a week ago for my other pc and i went the cheap route and now i regret it. The original keyboard i had was a microsoft keyboard from back in 2012 i think, i tried cleaning it to make the keys work better but i think the problem of sticky keys is due to plastic expansion, malformation due to heat, long term use and such, wear and tear of course but the keyboard still works ok albeit a few keys being sticky, especially the U key, you know how hard it is to type in gnu/linux without proper use of the U key!.
So this new $15 (gecko) keyboard being brand new is even worse than my old one. You have to press harder than normal and im forever getting typos and conjoined words when typing.
Any recommendations? Budget would be about 50 US $
I can definitely recommend Suara Roccat backlit keyboard
I have this keyboard and it is excellent

OOps sorry I just read the bit about being in the $50 price range sorry

Here's a video I saw recently about mechanical keyboards under $50 which might also help you in choosing one a bit more easily.
but I am also a keyboard nut, here's my current daily driver

How do you manage without the function keys
It looks really nice but dont you miss having a full keyboard?

There is a Fn key on the left, so I guess it enables the top row as function keys?

Since I really wanted a keyboard with a local layout, I decided to go to a shop and buy it there.
No-frills, no stoopid RGB LEDs or programmable macros.
Even so, it can be made to do some silly stuff, besides normal steady backlighting.
The red LED is not my favorite color, but one can dim or completely switch it off.
It has really good reviews (surely the low price also helps people to feel happy about it).First test, it feels much better now. Less typos also
not cherry mx, but I saw earlier that the outemu (there's a typo on the web page, it says otemu) switches can be purchased separately, so that surely is a good sign.
now, only time can tell...PS:
it doesn't show so well in the image, but it also has the open architecture that will hopefully make cleaning much easier.
time has told.
it's been what, 9 months of full-on usage now. it definitely pays to spend some money on a mechanical keyboard if one is typing as much as I do, but I could've spent just a little more on it and maybe gotten something much better.
two gripes:
it's not clicky and the keys have little resistance. since i'm a hacker in the physical sense, and fat-fingered at that, that's not ideal.
the labels on the top row keys are totally confusing! even after 9 months I have to look closely to find {[]}\?+ and such.
but the overall typing experience is really much better now!
and since i originally bought this to be able to clean it better, i must say: mission accomplished! i can only recommend this open design. I can shake out crumbs & fluff simply by holding the keyboard vertical.

Red is my least vavorite colour, bit it is a nice looking keyboard other wise.

Best deal yet! Is it heavy or a featherweight. I hate "featherweight keyboards. GRRRRR!
