Re: [OUTDATED]Please help us test the Helium alpha iso.

I tested version 6 now, and tap to click and edge scrolling works in live mode.

It really feels complete now, i cannot see anything that does not work. However in "live mode" selecting a wifi network does not connect, from going online.

will this now be released?

Very soon, yes, but we just want to make absolutely sure there are no bugs in the release because our configuration mechanism means that any changes must be applied manually by the user rather the automatically by the package manager.

Re: [OUTDATED]Please help us test the Helium alpha iso.

Just wanted to say I've been running a fresh BL install from the latest alpha ISO for about 24 hours now with no noticeable issues. Nice work!

Re: [OUTDATED]Please help us test the Helium alpha iso.

Curious why Dropbox was included in bl-welcome.  Seems like it should be an optional install for the same reason SSH was moved out of bl-welcome in deuterium.

We went over it and most folks seemed to want to keep it.

Have you tried the BLOB configurator?

Of course, I've been talking about OOTB experience ...

Why xen? Go for kvm

Been there, done that:

https://forums.bunsenlabs.org/viewtopic.php?id=1546 big_smile

Nothing much to do for KVM anyway, BunsenLabs will work very nicely OOTB.

Oh, yes ... now I remember your post about kvm.

I can only say that there nothing particularly interesting in xen, too ... simply a few 'apt-get install's and simple grub setup (make xen-kernel default, and possibly set up max dom0 memory size). Real fun and problems start when one tries to setup domU's. And really difficult part (for me at least) were setting up the port tunnels (actually NAT) from real ehternet card toward (server) domUs NICs ... Of course this is not needed for simple 'client-only' domU's.

In a nutshell, one can say the kvm is already inside kernel, xen isn't.

EDIT: forgot to inform devs that I have installed BL alpha6 on my old and faithful Dell XPS M1530 (i.e. on bar metal), and it works like a charm, not a single problem, at least not during 2 hours while I was installing all stuff from menus smile There ya go ... congrats. Make it official iso already smile

Re: [OUTDATED]Please help us test the Helium alpha iso.

Just downloaded Ultimaker Cura 3.2.1 as an Appimage. Changing the user rights to add "execute" and it started and worked fine. No troubles so far.

Re: [OUTDATED]Please help us test the Helium alpha iso.

I installed alpha5 last night. Used text installer. No issues.

I wiped the whole laptop SSD, and let the installer do its thing.

Comments from kids: "Dad that's beautiful - much better than Ubuntu and Arch".

I had forgotten how impressive bl-welcome is. Super effort.

I love the way you manage to keep it simple. Not completely minimalist - but very consistent and balanced.

Re: [OUTDATED]Please help us test the Helium alpha iso.

I issued a PR on Github for the modified Terminator config as well as a modified .Xresources. See post #59 for details. Also, the Terminator config file holds a profile called "Hydrogen" that uses Bunselabs Hydrogen's default terminal colors.

It's been running on a lenovo x230 for the last couple of days, installed Kodi, Apache, Screenfetch, etc. Got everything up and running, no issues to report. Beautiful design, easy to install, Excellent Work! big_smile

Re: [OUTDATED]Please help us test the Helium alpha iso.

Just one small point: when I use "BLOB Themes Manager" and select the 'Crunchbang' theme, a small window appears complaining about missing 'bunsen-faenza-icon-theme' package.

Simple 'apt-get install' resolves this problem. Note: during install, I have choose to install "Bunsen Extra Images".

However, I think it should be installed during (i.w. alongside) "Bunsen Extra Images" inside bl-welcome, if user choose this option? It seems to be a logical place to put it?

There is already a "BunsenLabs_Grey" which is meant to be that very thing. If you prefer the grey "velvet noise" background to a monochrome "beam" wallpaper there is "Crunchbang" too, which uses the Faenza icons (have to be installed though).

Re: [OUTDATED]Please help us test the Helium alpha iso.

Tried 32bit alpha-5 version on dell latitude - usb stick, live session. Everything worked fine, no issues, only a tad slow, but my laptop isn't a speed daemon so I suppose this is normal with live session. It is very nice looking smile

^Well, I was throwing a hint that the 'bunsen-faenza-icon-theme' package should be included in "Bunsen Extra Images", as it seems logical. But OK, as you see fit ...

I would agree with that in principle but the images package is already a rather large 88.4MiB, the faenza set would add another ~67MiB just for 4 launcher icons so I think we should leave that up to the user.

Re: [OUTDATED]Please help us test the Helium alpha iso.

did you remove all the gtk-2.0 packages? I was trying to install obmenu-generator and I'm having troubles as that dependency is not met (there is no ~/.config/gtk-2.0 folder anymore). Is that intentional?
