If Ubuntu or Mint can do that on the same hardware then more power to them. cool

A year or so ago i installed Linux Mint Debian on a friends really old AMD 1.5Ghz dual core laptop (that must be 16 years old) and that played preview ok?

The original Poster asked for live thumbnails as in Cinnamon, instead of Tint2's static preview...

On Bunsenlabs?

sudo apt purge bunsen* && sudo apt install cinnamon && sudo apt --purge autoremove

Reboot.

Honestly, this is your best bet for what you're asking. Mate panel will play nice with BL, gnome-shell/cinnamon probably not so much.

I ran it, fifteen minutes later including customizing I'm running it. Pic or it didn't happen...

Debian has made it so easy, and BunsenLabs embraces that.

Also, I can't decide whether to say thank you or screw you. I'll be using this cinnamon setup for at least a month now. It's very nice.

It's risky to enable it by default, it does not play well with some cards on large monitors (4k or 2x4k). Although I have used it for years without issues.

In my case it works fine on my nVidia GTX 1060 in my big desktop as well as with the Intel chip in my laptop and I have a 24" monitor.

I'd agree it should be disabled by default and a user can try it by enabling it.

Re: TaskBar Preview?

It's using 74 GiB of 157 available, but that includes all my files and everything that was on the system before switching desktops. I can say that I have 3G RAM on a 12 year old Dell laptop, which ain't a whole lot, and this is running smooth as silk.

If there is one thing Debian does better than Ubuntu, it's providing desktops without the added cruft. Seriously, Ubuntu sucks in that regard.

That's going to be a big thank you. This desktop is fun, and I needed a little diversion.

That looks nice and wonder how snappy it is compared to Plasma.

Hmm would be so nice to make it more like BL...with themes and such smile

It was not I who wanted it on BL. The OP wrote in post #5

[...] use multiple firefox windows for webpage stock charts , tools and finance video news so each window can be previewed
instantly without leaving the current chart when markets move.
You can do it in Windows and other linux desktops like Cinnamon

Today it is doable if you use other software than BL. I prefer light and flexible...

@o9000: Nice to see you again, I think you haven't logged in in a while?
Just let me say that you have my (and many others' I believe) undying gratitude for the work you've done on tint2!

Are you talking about tint2 thumbnails on Mint?

They are just complaining that tint2 has not implemented $FAVORITE_FEATURE although it should be possible resource-wise.
They are the type of user that constantly complains that Linux is "not as good as it could be as a desktop OS" - sometimes blaming a particular software, or a distro, or even GNU/Linux as a whole.
Interestingly, these types are never actual FLOSS programmers.
