Are you thinking about something like this, the middle screeny of this link http://crunchbang.org/forums/viewtopic. … 80#p440380? My question on your " I really like to have my configs in one place."
Nope. That's not what I meant. I do a lot of customization and some times I modify the same config files (conkyrc, tint2rc, menu.xml,.. etc) so I loose the original ones. What I meant was that I like to have a place (folder) with a backup of all those configs and a screenshot. That is what 'crunchbox' did and what BLOB does, without modifing the original config files.
But, I like the idea of having a Control Center, the way Semplice Linux has...

Yes, I understand what you mean. I found katsh and was reading his work since my question.

This is for another day, and in another thread. I've been using that Contol Center for sometime. I've been playing with Gtkdialog and Yad.

I've been playing with lastest alpha and this is my veredict: wow!
no problems with conky while switching between themes
no problems with icon-themes while switching between themes

Awesome utility.
I will test it the next days. Thanks.
Thanks
I'm hoping that the theme-tweakers among us will find it useful!

More than that, it will be nice for those of us who find ourselves re-building systems on a continual basis, I am sure. I will be sure to test this out soon.

Ditto, I've had it on my list since damo started working on this a couple of months ago. I need to get more organized.
@fog, hmmm, we'll have to break out GIMP and Inkscape and customize that flame icon a bit.

I just ran both the backup and restore portions vs my three monitor setup. I am happy to report that it worked as expected upon reboot. This particular theming is still very much a WIP. I still need to redo the OB/GTK themes and have one more conky to build. However, wallpapers, the three conkies I do have built, custom tint2rc all came up properly. One thing, does it also backup terminator configs?
Below is the scrot for it. You will need to click the image to see all three screens.

Running the latest alpha release 1.1.1 as of the time of this post.
Works great. I was able to backup and restore my running config(s).
I made a backup, made a few changes to things, rebooted, restored the backup and all is good.
Thanks for making this!

Good to know, thanks for the report
I have been thinking about adding other configs, but where to stop? eg terminator, terminal colours, geany theme.
Suggestions?

Well, I mentioned terminator since it is part of default BL install. Plus, to simplify having to modify x-terminal-emulator calls to use a theme other than default, I have just been overwriting the defaults. I just thought backing that up might be useful. My backup script will get it but having all that nifty automation for restoring configs is just...priceless.

Overwriting the terminator default [profile] is the easy way of doing it, I agree. It would also make it much easier to save the config, instead of messing with commands or terminator.desktop.
I will have a play with the idea

I have just tried this and it is brilliant!
Very well done damo, fantastic work.
This is the sort of detail that really adds value to the B^L package.

...but there is an annoying bug I can't track down: if you choose to save Conkys, but none are running, then there is a warning message, and the choices dialog appears again (as intended). But this time the "Openbox Configurations to be saved..." message dialog runs again after "OK" is clicked.
Any help would be appreciated...
FIXED

@nore
I've added a github branch, with a Terminator config option, if you want to test it
blobthemes(term branch)

I will be sure to check this out as soon as I get the chance, damo. I'll test the conky thing as well. One thing about that though, is BLOB only copying running conkies? It might be useful to back up that entire directory and if no conkies are running, then just set it to the BL default again.

I've got the bug surrounded, but the loop logic is doing my head in atm!
FIXED
It is only running conkys which are saved, and the conky sessionfile is used if there is one. Maybe someone wants a setup without a conky. (I'm not sure the process is quite right yet though, taking account of different combinations of user choices)
