Re: March 2017 Screenshots

After a stressful few days after my PC completely packing it in I am back up and running.

After 8 years I have a new desktop PC.  Same old set up though.

That greeter looks really nice!

I'm waiting on my new laptop to arrive. I just downloaded the latest version of BL. Looking forward to trying it out.

"New" means a used Thinkpad T430s.

Sadly, however, lightdm has regressed in stretch. As I mentioned elsewhere, most of the former keyboard shortcuts no longer work. And look at how the first letters of the username and password don't line up in the entry boxes. roll

-edit- Well, some good news. I knew that Alt+F4 still opened the Shutdown dialog, but F10 (still?) opens the "Power" menu, which lets you also restart, suspend, etc..., and from there you can left-arrow to open the other panel menus. Yay!

BTW my reports are from systems upgraded from jessie, so maybe things are different if you install via the stretch installer, and therefor have all new config files.

"Install via stretch installer"

Wut?

I downloaded the helium iso. So I'll be installing from that, whatever it has is what I'll be using.

Re: March 2017 Screenshots

^ What, we have a Helium iso out already?

BTW I think "stretch" installer may be referring to the stretch netinstall, followed by the Helium-dev netinstall script

Re: March 2017 Screenshots

I'm building a new conky based on one I found on DeviantArt.

It's basically his conky, plus some basic sysinfo and the 1a_accuweather script all rolled into one.

Must give credit where credit is due. Original conky is here: http://www.deviantart.com/art/Shimes-Conky-554784205

2017-03-21-06-02-54_scrot.th.png

EDIT: Replaced with a new scrot. Many thanks to nobody who helped me out with some sed funkiness for my conky.

EDIT 2: Yes, I know the conky is dirty. Not everything lines up nicely. But that what the "offset" parameter is for. If I need help I'll toss it in the conky thread. If I get to where I consider it good enough I'll throw it in there anyway.

Re: March 2017 Screenshots

re: stretch installer, sorry for the confusion! I was referring to the lightdm/lightdm-gtk-greeter configs OOTB independent of the desktop environment, and by "stretch installer" I meant using a weekly build of the non-free "Live" images, which I mistakenly thought were up-to-date...
https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/unof … so-hybrid/

I assumed, incorrectly (check the "Last modified" dates) that "testing" meant built by R. Herzog using stretch's live-build...
https://packages.debian.org/stretch/live-build

@damo is on-point, as usual, the "unofficial" netinstall images are updated and available...

@hhh np dude

@packrat that foggy one looks a lot like Pocatello.  It was taken in between Challis and Salmon.  We were running back and forth a lot searching for fish.  That first one I posted was up at Stanley next to the tooths.

Re: March 2017 Screenshots

GTK Arc (Flatabulous) theme + my OB Arc hack & Stretch
Arc-Dark_ob.th.png
p.s. Stretch is behaving better and better and I think I fixed all the "E: hold broken .." stuff by downgrading some stuff using aptitude (This was Jessie upgrade).
p.s.2. Flatabulous is behaving badly with gtk+, so switching back to very similar Arc-Darker.
