That's the behaviour I would expect. Maybe it's a bug in Jessie's exec. Not a major problem I suppose, but something to be aware of...

Hmmm, I have as widget style only Raleigh and Bluebird - is there maybe a way to get those other styles?

While searching for hints regarding this issue I found obtheme. Is it still ok to use that archlinux package on helium-dev?

The package appears to be Xyne's so that would mean it is of high quality.

The PKGBUILD just unpacks the tarball and installs the executable to /usr/bin so you could do that yourself (or make a .deb to do it for you).

Glossed over this one somehow...

Is this in Helium-dev?

Have you tried installing the new bunsen-themes package?

6. fails to do so (possibly c. or e. are somehow tolerable)

Re: [solved]keep apps from inheriting the GUI's colour scheme

@HoaS Thank you for showing in the right direction. I had the feeling that something is not right but did not know what. That package was missing indeed (now there are other widget styles too). I'll test obtheme, looks really interesting.

Edit: Yes, it's helium-dev and I put obtheme in ~/bin and installed

sudo apt install python-fuse

after that I could start it via obtheme.

Is this tool well known? I mean it looks really great and so far I can tell it's also intuitive to use. Somehow I completely missed it. I'm not sure about making even a thread for it in GUI&Applications or Scripts&Tricks.

https://xyne.archlinux.ca/projects/obtheme/
it works.
it's still just a python2 script that depends on pygtk gtk2 python2-fuse.
hasn't seen an update in 4 years.
it certainly creates valid themes, but maybe misses some extra features that have been added to openbox in the last 4 years? idk.
i tried it, but always come back to manual editing in the end.
