The tweeters are less than a foot below my ears. Good enough for a wobbly plank of wood. The improvement is huge, I have a sound stage. I'll post again when I have some tower stands or maybe shelves on the wall.
Not only raise them (when you get a real desk speaker stands) but angle them towards you. Which you can do right now.

43" of 4k goodness.
What aspect ratio does that make? Doesn't look like 16:9 which I've found to be horrible for anything you want to view screen pages of. Needs to be at least 16:10 for me.

This is entirely dependent on the room, the equipment, and the preference of the listener. In this scenario, pointing the tweeters straight ahead gives a little more sound stage and slightly reduces the harshness of the cheap-ish tweeters (they're really quite good for how flipping cheap they were) as they're off-axis. I mean, I'm 3 feet away from them, how much difference is it making?
But yes, I'm working towards getting back an audiophile listening room (I've had several.) It's not gonna happen in this apartment/flat. I can't fit a real desk into my room unless I remove my bed, let alone a proper component system with some B & W speakers or something similar.
Anyways, I just let what's left of my ears be my guide. This stupid piece of wood was a huge upgrade.
And if if I end up posting a pair of 30K speakers with some expensive tube amps driven by a virtual-reality interface to my brain playing compressed digital audio files, you better not say "Tow those fuckers in 2 inches on each side." Almost all of what we hear on recordings now, unless you actively avoid it, is compressed digital audio files. I'd guess that here is more algorithm interpolation in any given mp3 file than there is actual audio data.
Those speakers are 30 large. Mine were 50 bucks delivered, amp included (I think it was about $59 after sales tax). I'll use mine for now, they sound really good from a meter away, and that's saying something.

Anyways, we're way Off Topic now, but I'm looking at these satellite speaker stands...

Got it, these are cheap and will easily hold my tweeters...

I noticed that they only had one pair left for sale, so I bought them for USD $41.29, tax and delivery included. Now 'Out Of Stock', sorry. I'll post back when I get them in a week or two.
So the stands almost cost as much as the entire amplified satellites and subwoofer audio system, and these stands were cheap. Commerce, it's a bitch. My piece of wood is looking good right now.
-edit- Thanks, Al. I wouldn't have jumped on this purchase if it wasn't for your bitching. and I know it will both look better and, much more importantly, sound better.

Actually, I place my drinks on the nightstand behind me and swivel around to drink coffee, water (occasionally) or beer. Protect the keyboard.

Thanks Al, totally worth the 41 bucks. Way better looking/less wonky and way more options for better sound via placement and height. You can see they have about 2 feet of extension, I'd say they can go another 13-15 inches higher than this (I need to get a tape measure. They are currently extended 1 shampoo bottle distance, approximately). The speaker cord goes through the inside of the stand, a nice feature. They're hefty steel stands, easy enough to assemble with different options for attaching the speaker (my tweeters are light with plastic housings, I just used the included 3M double-sided tape), and they look great...
Not the final placement, but close enough for a blurry pic. The Flying Brick has been bricked.

Thanks Sector11! Like I said, worth the USD41, sales tax included, delivery included. It arrived in about a week.
New old business-class Dell laptop, $200. Debian installation, half an hour, maybe 2 more hours to tweak it, $0. Logitech satellites and sub-woofer with integrated 60 watt/120 watt peak solid-state amp with volume and sub-woofer volume control, all cables included, $60. Stands, $41. "Desk", free, it was sitting by the side of the road for trash removal. All prices include sales tax and delivery.
Total system cost, just over $300 delivered to my door. 10/10. would recommend.

Right? You'd be astonished at the amount of computer, video and audio sophistication this setup is producing.
I'd love to see some other budget setups here.

Also, you're wrong. In 2020, almost 2021, everything is a reference.

The HP Z230 is a nice machine, but I am sure the Ryzen will be faster than the Xeons in that rig.
