where is the GNOME menu bar?

If you mean the app launcher, it auto-hides; it pops out if you throw the mouse cursor to the top left corner.  This is true with both the X and Wayland implementations.

Re: June 2016 Screenshots

^ Sweet.

I'm in love/hate with GNOME again. On Wayland, and the third scrot is on Xorg...

^ It's probably AnyColourYouLike.

Screenshotfrom2016-06-0622-06-25.th.png

Since GNOME shell wants desperately to be so damn ugly, I bitch-slapped it and dressed it up in pinstripes and a tie.

Ubuntu, Gnome 3.18, lxterminal, thunar, leafpad, music streaming via pithos. Bunsen-Antimon GTK themes with matching shell theme, Infini font, custom Paper icons.

-edit- Nice, applied a fix for pithos notification album art.

Hydrogen upgrade && dist-upgrade to testing and then unstable, e20 install from an untrusted repo.

^ Same install, I purged enlightenment and installed a minimal kde Plasma. Apparently, I'm not even running windecs.
