Re: Conky weather+moon scripts (Accuw/WUndergr/NWS/MoonGiant)

Thanks for the info fvirgola80

Quite unfortunate S11, we'll see.
If it persists, I'll just have to look some place else for a moon phase script.

Re: Conky weather+moon scripts (Accuw/WUndergr/NWS/MoonGiant)

Just in case:

moonconnection.com

The moon phase calendar shows north/south hemispheres and dates selectable, not sure if ta script can grab it though:
   http://www.moonconnection.com/moon_phas … ndar.phtml
Current Moon Phase:
   http://www.moonconnection.com/current_moon_phase.phtml

calendar-365.com
   http://www.calendar-365.com/moon/curren … phase.html

They have a "calculate" page - between dates - so I checked:
   http://www.calendar-365.com/calculate/p … dates.html

Error: Computers can only deal with dates between 1970 to 2037. Please give a different date.

YEA! RIGHT!  End of WWII in Europe to same day in 2525!

OK back on topic ...

Lunaf.com I think we mentioned this once before:
   http://lunaf.com/lunar-calendar/

One of my favorite sites for many things: die.net
   http://www.die.net/moon/

moonpage.com
   http://www.moonpage.com/index.html

en.tutiempo.net - basic but has N/S hemispheres
   http://en.tutiempo.net/moon/phases-october-2015.htm?h=s

WoW Look at this moon calculator!
   http://www.mooncalc.org/#/-34.5649,-58. … 12/13:36/1
OK, that's me, well close enough.

Teo's house! OK, not Teo's but it is a house in Kastoria Greece - closer than London England that's for sure.
   http://www.mooncalc.org/#/40.5189,21.26 … 12/13:36/1

EDIT:  one last one: Time and Date dot com - Buenos Aires - I've had this bookmarked for years, another favourite site.
http://www.timeanddate.com/moon/argentina/buenos-aires

or: Sun and Moon info
http://www.timeanddate.com/astronomy/ar … enos-aires
The images are "interesting" to say the least.

Just for something to do.

HUSTON: I think we may have this wrong:  0% illumination - new moon - no image maybe?

Re: Conky weather+moon scripts (Accuw/WUndergr/NWS/MoonGiant)

The problem is that the page where the script takes its info from
http://www.moongiant.com/phase/today/
is empty.

Brilliant collection of moon phase pages by the way S11. We'll see...

Re: Conky weather+moon scripts (Accuw/WUndergr/NWS/MoonGiant)

OH I hope it won't either, I kinda like the moon script as is.

With 1b2 and the moon script I have:

  • Sun rise|set times

  • Current Moon (MIA today) (hemisphere specific)

  • % illumination

  • Moon rise|set

  • Moon Age

  • Moon Angle, and

  • Distance from earth.

all in one conky

Re: Conky weather+moon scripts (Accuw/WUndergr/NWS/MoonGiant)

@ragamatrix

saved the image as: ragamatrix_weather.png.  That looks like a really nice little weather station!

I have a font called arrows but it is different - it points to the major compass points - one of the early conkyForecast fonts. Only does the letters a to p.
2015_10_13_14_10_00_Scrot11.jpg
Must play with this.  Thank you!

@Teo → moon script is working today.  OOPS! has been corrected: 2015_10_13_14_12_47_Scrot11.png

Re: Conky weather+moon scripts (Accuw/WUndergr/NWS/MoonGiant)

»»»»» This is for conky v1.90 «««««

No not a problem at all, just s different font by the same name.  I ended up using:

${goto 95}${color8}${font VariShapes Solid:pixelsize=10}q${goto 160}${color1}Q${font}\
${goto 105}${color8}${execi 600 sed -n '39p' $HOME/1b1_accuweather_images/curr_cond}${color}\
${goto 170}${color1}${execi 600 sed -n '40p' $HOME/1b1_accuweather_images/curr_cond}${color}\

Looks nice but not the " V " shaped arrows you have.
Made a  transparent copy of the image.
Changed the wind and sun info lines.

That's another ragamatrix conky for my archive - I have a 'few' of yours. wink

Teo's Accuweather scripts updated - 29 Oct 2015
This Conky Updated on 30 Oct 2015

^  I cleaned it up a bit more than that as well.

  • allowed for three characters for temps ie: 100° - for F or -10° (see the ñ in the right image)

  • spaced the PRE: with a ${goto} so it doesn't move between 9° 10° or -15°

  • spaced Wnd and @ with ${goto}'s as well so they are always at the same spot.

  • along with a few other tweaks - just because ... details.  big_smile

WOW, that's awesome little fancy  weather output, i have stoped using conky full or conky-all for conky-cli

I would have used one of these recently weather conky.

Congrat ragamatrix, also S11 for his awesome tweaks.

That, I can not deny, we have 'stolen' each others conkys over time - so we compliment each other.

A long time ago:

Londonali1010 coined a phrase:

CCCC - Collaborative Creative Conky Community

that became known as C4 as well.

I think that sums up what conky people do quite nicely.

I think is more like part of open source rather than stolen, we learn from code and continuing making it better.
edit: giving credit, we respect the work of others smile

I can relate to that ...

man conky

I always try and give credit to the person I {cough cough} 'borrowed' from, but being human at times I forget.  So, lately (past few years), I put the person's name in the conky file name or some commented out line in the file itself.

@ Teo - Awesome: “Amateurs borrow, professionals steal”  I like it!
