Jeff ( Jean-Francois) from Montreal Canada

Hello to the BL Community,

Sorry for the long novel LOL :

My name is JF or Jeff. I'm 52, 3 boys ( 28,22,20) and am from Montreal Canada.

- Have been playing with technology for 40 + years.... I bought and played with all the toys that you can remember ( Commodore VIC 20, Amiga, Palm Pilot,Macintosh (was an Apple evangelist in MTL with Apple Canada ans some reseller for a while),  Apple Newton, Pocket PC, DOS, WIndow 3.1 and above)

- When I was a tennager, I was creating databases with FileMaker Pro as a sideline.

- operated a BBS/SYSOP ( Bulleting board system with modems)  as a teenager(in my small town) and later for living (in montreal, moved there for that).

Internet arrived and killed my BBS business... I became an IT consultant (network, servers, firewall, IBM, HP, Microsoft etc... Specialized in security and messaging).

NOW
18 years ago launched
http://www.lastspam.com (AntiSpam company), my 1st contact with LINUX ! When my employee told me about linux, I didn't wan't to hear about it ! For me, it was not a serious OS LOL Sometime we're stupid and we don't know....

Now working from home...

LINUX ON MY DESKTOP
I started using linux on my desktops around 10+years....
Played with Ubuntu distros ( Mint, Budgie etc etc etc etc etc)  After that have been looking for the fastest ones and most stables one and left the Ubuntu world for Debian and Arch based distro...

And been using Debian distros for the last 2+ years....  I now prefer Debian to Arch even if I did liked Manjaro (XFCE and KDE-PLASMA)

I AM Happy and excited to say that my 2 laptops and my main Production Desktop are now running on BL-LIthium !

At college, I studied 1 year as a programmer (30+ years ago and I was good LOL) and left school because of a girl(felt in love LOL)   IF it was not for that girl, I would be a programmer today and be able to help you a lot more!  It's ok, I had fun as an IT consultant etc.

It will be a pleasure to help the community the best as I can, and please, be patient with me ( my english, typos etc)

Jeff/Yoda

You're from Montreal. Prove it, say "Thirty three thousand trees in Thunder Bay."

My mom is from Montreal. I lived in Thunder Bay for four frigid months in the late '90s and when I went home, I asked her to say it.

She said "Tirdy trree tousand trrees in Toonder... f**k you, hhh."

It's my proudest moment in my life, by far. I'm a bit petty.

Thanks for posting, and welcome!

It's OK, you aren't the only people to struggle with it. The whole clip is a masterpiece, the relevant bit starts at 14:20...

I don't know this forum rules about going Off-Topic in the thread/discussions but they let me/us know if we exaggerate...

You mean you hadn't read the Rules before posting for the first time?

Keep individual threads on-topic and do not work towards derailing discussions. Notorious trolls will be banned.

....but some humour here and there is usually a GOOD THING big_smile

Re: Jeff ( Jean-Francois) from Montreal Canada

In technical threads, keep Off Topic comments to a minimum. Introductions is fair game for Off Topic stuff, we're just saying hello. Artwork and Screenshots, especially the monthly scrot thread, are all fair game for OT. BL & General Linux, fine. Off Topic, welcome home. Otherwise, keep your humor/humour... pithy? Brief and witty.

Re: Jeff ( Jean-Francois) from Montreal Canada

Guys
Been using BL-Lithium for a week now on my Main Desktop and Lithium rocks...

I spend a lot of times in my life using misc Desktop Environments, to name a few Cinamon, , Windows,   Mac, XFCE, KDE/PLASMA, Budgie and several Ubuntu distros etc.....

I love how efficient is Lithium, fast,   stable and very functional is Lithium...

I am falling in love with openbox... So much Keyboard shortcuts I can tweak to manipulate all my Windows in 6 Worspaces

Good work again....
