[SOLVED} Is there a way to disable automatic log off from BL forum?

I get logged of BL forum after x minutes of inactivity. Can I disable it?

^ A good work around and will do it. So I guess, there isn't an option on fluxbb settings as such to disabled auto log off after inactivity.

Re: [SOLVED} Is there a way to disable automatic log off from BL forum?

The setting that catches me off guard is the time when fluxbb thinks it's a new visit. My shortcut/link to the forum is:
https://forums.bunsenlabs.org/search.ph … n=show_new to show the new posts sense my last visit. If I get off on a tangent; listening to a music video, whatever and come back, if it's been long enough, fluxbb thinks it's a new visit and I loose any unread new posts from the original visit.

The workaround, for me, is to leave the original new posts page (tab) up and [right click/ open in a new tab] for each new post. Then I can spend as much time as I like checking out each new post. Often the new post is quite interesting and I might spend a long time exploring the subject. Such is the quality of the posts in this forum.

While I'm here, The setup of this forum is so pleasant to use, I'm spoiled for many other forums. Thanks to those who make it so.

^ Won't the unread new posts stay as 'unread' even if you re log in? I haven't tried it, perhaps I should try and see.

It's new posts since your last visit. If one spends enough time off "surfing the web" about a subject in a new post, and not interacting with the forum, it thinks it's a new visit. That's the way I interpret it.

Hmm, let's see if Flarum sorts these things. I am guessing that's the successor to FluxBB and BL forum will too move to Flarum when the stable is out.

This is what I do too. Works OK, though you have to finish all your checking-out in one session.

Also it seems to help if you click the "mark all topics as read" after opening all the new tabs, otherwise you get unwanted "new" posts later.

It's a bit of a problem on all the forums I use; to the extent that I wrote meself a litter F5-pusher:

delay="${1-120}";
i=0;
choice=0;
columns="$(tput cols)";
printf "Please select a window to press F5 on every $delay seconds:\nNr. Desktop Window\n\n";
while read -a line; do
	[[ "${line[1]}" == "-1" ]] && continue;
	((i++));
	((line[1]++));
	desktop[i]="${line[1]}";
	winid[i]="${line[0]}";
	winname[i]="${line[*]:3:$((${#line[@]} -1))}";
	printf "\e[33m%2d\E[0m    %2d    %.$((columns-12))s\n" $i "${desktop[i]}" "${winname[i]}";
done <<< "$(wmctrl -l)";
echo;
until (( choice > 0 )) && (( choice <= i )); do
	printf "Choose Number (\e[33m1-${i}\e[0m): ";
	read choice;
done;
while :; do
	xdotool key --window "${winid[choice]}" F5 || break;
	printf "%.$((columns))s\n" "$(date +%H:%M:%S) - Pressed F5 on desk ${desktop[choice]}: ${winname[choice]}";
	sleep $delay;
done

I used to go to the forum/subforum index to browse through the topic. Started using the 'New' posts url. Seems pretty handy.
