${username} == "alban" && render_introduction

Hi all

Aaaalllriggght. The forum introduction post, right?

So I'm French, living in France, please pardon the frenglish, I've been a fan of Crunchbang when it got out, then moved to bunsen, lots of kudos by the way to maintainers, and there was nothing to say but I've upgraded my bunsen laptop to Stretch only recently and got into some troubles, so figured I'd come here and seek some informations and share some feedback.

I'm a graphic designer / developer / sysadmin and to be honest I've always found forums clunky because you never know how a forum really works unless you've been there from the start and know which subforums to track via RSS.

And, well, that's it. I'll be here all week smile

Haha well that's a good script smile That leads me to think: if forums had a command line, that would be WAY nicer smile

One could be prompted every few hours a recap about what's been posted.

I am - every few minutes, via a conky atomfeed script wink

Ha! That sounds real great. Is conky even able to make links interactive? I'm going to look into that.

Never played much with conky, but by lurking around I see you folks are pretty invested in your custom conky rc configurations. I'd bet you've shared that FEED trick somewhere in the forums, right wink

Edit: Woah, that deviantart Electron Moonlight config looks awesome indeed.

Re: ${username} == "alban" && render_introduction

Conky v1.10 isn't interactive (which is one reason some die-hards stick to the previous iteration). This is my script, but note that the formatting is specific to a particular conky's geometry.

#!/bin/bash

URL="https://forums.bunsenlabs.org/extern.php?action=feed&type=atom"
NUM_LINES=6 # Number entries to display. Max=15

# extract text between "CDATA[" and "]]" (Post title text)
# cut first line with tail
# keep first 6 lines from result of tail

connectiontest() {
    local -i i attempts=${1-0}
    for (( i=0; i < attempts || attempts == 0; i++ )); do
        if wget -O - 'http://ftp.debian.org/debian/README' &> /dev/null; then
            return 0
        fi
        if (( i == attempts - 1 )); then # if last attempt
            return 1
        fi
    done
}

connectiontest 10

if (( $? == 0 ));then
    curl -s "$URL" | grep "<title" | grep -o -P '(?<=CDATA\[).*(?=\]\])'| tail -n +2 | head -n $NUM_LINES | cut -c 1-60 # | sed 's/^/${goto 358}/'
else
    echo "\${goto 358}No internet connection"
    echo "\${goto 358}Forum feed unavailable"
    echo "\${goto 358}"
    echo "\${goto 358}"
    echo "\${goto 358}"
    echo "\${goto 358}"
fi

Search the Conky thread - I'm sure it is on there somewhere.

Thanks smile  Check out the BL Deviantart group as well!

That config can be d/l'd from Moonlight-Conky zipfile. Colours are little different probably.
