Re: What are you listening to right now?

Link if you have it, at least to the album info. I only know the original two No Pussyfooting tracks from '73.

-edit- It's the 2008 2CD reissue, thanks lamarca!

Re: What are you listening to right now?

My damned APC UPS sounding an alarm telling me I should purchase way overpriced APC battery packs instead of generic batteries and some double-sided tape or adhesive at a fraction of the cost for better quality batteries.. fecking thing.. you can't shut the damned thing up without closing everything either....

Re: What are you listening to right now?

It's absolute mayhem but it's one of the tightest bands I've ever heard. The drums are completely insane but close to 100% in time and the guitars are all locked in to the 32nd note or better (in rhythm, quarter note = 4 beats per measure, eighth note, double time = 8 beats per measure, sixteenth note, doubled again, etc...), at insane beats per minute. I love it, it's incredible musicianship.

Most musicians who play in bands like this are top notch at their instruments.  A lot of Metal musicians are far more talented than the mainstream ones we here about.

On to some French Funeral Doom now. It is Metal From France Sunday here in Sunny Napier.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

I agree. They're doing this live. It's amazing.

Does the drummer look like he's playing 150 beats per minute with double-bass pedals slamming the whole time? For the whole flipping show? No, he looks like he's playing a Strauss waltz, The Blue Danube. Kubrick-esque. I can't even imagine what kind of sick technique and endurance he has to keep that up.

That I don't know but their endurance is really impressive.

The Jaws soundtrack. By John Williams, 1975...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BtDleusg9ew

That music is flipping scary.

-edit- Other than that, Eiger Sanction is his better work. I don't mind him copying Lalo Schifrin and Aaron Copland, but there are places in Jaws where it sounds like he could break into Mahler's 1st at any second. No question to me, though, that the shark theme and surrounding themes are his best work. And Darth Vader's theme. And the soundtrack to Schindler's List. And the opening theme and episode music for the 60's Lost In Space TV series. And...

Enter The Dragon soundtrack. By Lalo Schifrin, 1973...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UVS_sqe … WZuFsAsLa8

This Argentinian composed a lot of seriously entertaining soundtracks. Pretty much the whole Dirty Harry franchise, I think. The man was a monster. This is just the film score portion of his discography. My goodness...
