Well there's the corner case coming back years later, and the name on the post resembles <account removed> you still get to see who it was.

^ Possibility, not buying into that theory though. Long standing tradition of ending written correspondence by signing a person's name but still comes off looking dumb on an internet forum post. Just my thoughts and we've yet to hear from one of the post signers, on why they do it. Come on fps = forum post signers, you know who you are! What's the deal?

Just got into the habit of signing my posts "John" so people could address me as that if they so chose. Applies to anyone whose real life name differs from their username, but it's probably only old fogeys who care about stuff like that.

Re: Completely Off Topic Chat

It makes reasonable sense to me too @john, I consider it something like a personality trait if a user does or doesn't, it makes less difference than many other mannerisms or figures of speech.

It's not a crime against humanity like say.. squeezing the toothpaste tube in the middle instead of at the end, with the consequent usual wastage,  as the designers intended. @BLizgreat!

I've recently decided that this a fallacy.

It doesn't matter where you squeeze the tube of toothpaste until you are doing the final squeezes. You still have to run your fingers from the bottom of the tube to the top no matter which method you've used before.

Re: Completely Off Topic Chat

The real question, though, is why isn't toothpaste sold in a jar like jam?

-edit- If anyone tries to market that idea, I'm using this post as evidence of intellectual property rights infringement. monkey

-edit- Actually, you can have that idea. I forgot about toothpastes drying out when exposed to air. You'd be pealing a toothpaste crust off your jar with a butter knife first thing in the morning. Not good.

Re: Completely Off Topic Chat

My opinion on that, the only alternative to solve it is  Individual/Partner personal toothpaste supplies if the squeeze position doesn't match, else divorce == inevitable

Yes, let's just downshift on the political discussion here. It's an important topic, but way too troll-baiting for this forum, even in Off Topic.

Now, back to toothpaste in jars, what if there was a disc you could press down and lift to expose or protect the paste?

Re: Completely Off Topic Chat

Well "troll baiting" is an interesting point.. *part of* my motivation in raising what I have is actually just that, stimulating discussion, regardless of reason, it's interesting to read other people's reasoning, regardless of opinion.... that strikes *me* as the purpose of an "off topic" thread, such threads have in the past altered my opinions, given a well reasoned argument.. I'm *inviting* such well reasoned arguments.. rather than knee-jerk reactions....

I'm never opposed to being persuaded by a logical argument.

So what's the "reasoning" on any such opinion? That's what I'm interested to read....

Who knows? If there's logic, I may be persuaded. Just include the reasoning.

Need a cartridge of toothpaste that hooks into the brush auotomagically dispenses the toothpaste as you brush.

OK, I'll take a bite ... Is there an educated reason why are you claiming this? I'm really interested.

I argue that it is not at all LUDICROUS. I will list few reasons why I think that, and simultaneously admit they are almost completely personal (note: I'm from EU):
- I'm in process of buying a device from England, worth around 1.1M pounds, free of custom duties; if UK were out of EU, the custom duties would for sure eliminate this English company from consideration, and instead I would buy similar device from certain Dutch company
- if I wanted to collaborate with someone from UK (I'm talking about scientific collaboration, but there are other similar ways of collaboration), both paperwork and custom duties and money transfer were flowing effortless across the borders; with UK outside EU, this will become order or two more difficult, almost on verge 'not worth it' due to increased paperwork and money duties; I believe this goes both ways
- I have a sister (recently) married to a nice - beerworthy big_smile - Welsh guy, they have little boy, and commuting across borders with and without kid have been straightforward, both ways; with UK outside EU, both will have to have passports, and possibly one of them (or both) will have to ask for citizenship to exercise their usual life experience (like living together in UK, working in UK, and similar)
- now this is personal: last few times I went to UK with my ID only, now I will have to have passport and even worse apply for visa? how will I go to wales and go to nice old-fashioned pubs on top of the hills, with nearby medieval small church, and drink enormous number of beers while surrounded by soothing green coloured grass? monkey

Now, extrapolate this to much more people/business in EU or in UK, and somehow - in today's world - it seems both UK and EU are at loss by brexit.

I have a read a bit about brexit in respectable news, and it seems everybody agrees on this. That's why I would like to hear another (educated) opinion.

Re: Completely Off Topic Chat

there is powdered toothpaste (well it's not paste anymore, it's a powder). cannot dry out, by definition.

there's also throwaway toothbrushes that are already saturated with tooth... again, not paste. something.

Today I felt a burning sensation in my left leg. Really hot, like heat  when you open the oven. Figured out it's the effect of a cellphone radiation. It stoped when I took the phone out of my pocket.

Today I got a stabbing sensation in my eye when I had a cup of tea. It stopped when I took the spoon out of the cup.

Those kitchen utensils can be really dangerous - they should have adequate labelling.

i believe that.
my ear and that whole side of my head gets hot when i have a long phone conversation.
cell phone radiation used to be a serious topic a decade (and more) ago, but now everybody seems to have forgotten about it, probably because no-one could imagine being without one...
