Re: What are you listening to right now?

Interview with Ian Brown from The Stone Roses
one of his best solo tracks
First world problems
There you go again with your first world problems, where you're living is easy

his (IMHO) greatest track with stone roses
I wanna be adored

Noel galagher (oasis) Once said the greatest front man ever was Ian Brown because every move he makes is so evolutionary, he moves like a monkey-man

The telephone is an antiquity - you never know who is calling, there is no image, it is an outmoded product which constantly disrupts work (Ralf Hutter (Kraftwerk)) ps: my wife knows how much I dislike being disrupted at Work - Ralf Hutter hit the nail on the head there

I approve of the dub/D&B aesthetic. Bonus, he's wearing a really nice t-shirt. Great link, I appreciate it. Thanks.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

I checked, I can't find a dub version of this reggae Steely Dan song, I'll have to make one myself. Awesome talk-box guitar by the late, great Walter Becker...

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Well, this is a huge undertaking, but I've used my first hour wisely. The stream has been recorded to FLAC, I've converted it to WAV just in case, and the FLAC has been imported into Ardour...

Re: What are you listening to right now?

The Police live at Rockpalast, 1980. Excellent camerawork and decent audio. Sting is nervous in front of the cameras a bit, especially for the first couple of songs, while Summers and Copeland absolutely crush it from start to finish.

Visions isn't on any of the original Police LPs/CDs.

Copeland's drumming on The Bed's Too Big Without You with Summers jamming, the best.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

My favorite dub track of all time, a stupid, pretentious track. According to my mom, who's from Montreal, the French at the beginning is all nonsense pseudo-French-ethereal-babble.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Have you ever wondered who the greatest singer of all time might be? Could such a person exist, is there such a thing as a greatest singer? Well, this young man comes close. Academics seriously rank him as being probably the greatest voice in his vocal range for 400 years. Can you imagine that? A boy of 12 being ranked as one of the greatest singers for 400 years at this time in 2010. From what I can gather their assessment is not just made on keeping in key and on time - strength of voice etc, it is about the pronouncement of words and the flair of voice and a ton of quantifiable parameters etc - music academics know best but see what you think
here are the two songs that really grab me emotionally when he sings them
Baudoin Aube fron The French PCCB choir
Nella Fantasia (2010)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=64Zkrgg8wY0

I totally love this
Mendelsohn - Ave Maris Stella - Baudoin Aube, treble
relax with the headphones on - close your eyes and just listen
(must admit though I find the accordion too loud in this)
