Thoughts on rc.local and systemd ?

Basically yep, what the thread title says. See this type of thing. Anyone likely ... come up with interesting uses for such a setup ?

Have criticism to offer towards this approach or perhaps a better way to go about it. Sure there's other approaches, since when in gnu/Linux isn't there plenty of ways to go about anything ! big_smile

Anyway, questions .. comments, brilliant and not so much observations, group hugs welcome.

I'm not in Debian at the moment but I think it has rc-local.service enabled already (it's part of Debian's systemd package), some programs only have old-style sysvinit scripts so it is needed in a stock system.

^Thanks Hoas. smile

It's been on the 2dork-list for quite awhile. Tracked the relevant file down on Stretch but as yet haven't really played with it. That being using @boot/@reboot crontabs or rc-local.service to apply different tweaks to the OS at bootup or similar uses that interest me.
