The Mark Steyn Show with Jordan Peterson
Questions related to how societies slip into totalitarianism.
um, this was very interesting.
couldn't say i agree with everything said, but
- the notion of (young, over-protected) people that expressing a critical opinion is the same as actively oppressing or discriminating those criticized, which is the first step to criminalising diverging opinions.
- are things really so crazy in canada, possibly all of north america? i got the impression that these laws they're talking about are active already?
i remember that cis/trans gender south park episode, and since south park loves to comment on things happening in society, i guess this really is happening in society?

Results of raising first generation of cultural Marxist in academia in the west just began to emerge on surface in past couple of years, so if you are not interested in the topic chances are you are not aware of any of the problems that will become more prominent in the coming years.
You are correct about Canada hate speech laws, in USA it's applied in NYC area (maybe few more major cities) where legal punishment for business owners who verbally "mislabel" trans people goes up to $250k.
Somebody living in the areas we are talking about could probably tell you more. I did not nor do I plan to live in any of the mentioned countries.

if you are indeed from serbia, i see that you have a different viewing angle on issues like this.
i can't fully agree with you there (in general, but also in respect to the video we are talking about).
and i must admit i had my fill of this particular frame of mind; from my father, who came from the east to the west and still blames "The Communists" for every real or perceived political problem left of center.

I don't fully understand what kind of frame of mind you got from my post and what points you disagree with me here, but everyone has a right to disagree with anything they want. I'll just assume you meant you don't find identity politics affecting western culture.

A youtube playlist of various Alan Watts lectures w/background music.
The meaning of life is to just be alive. It is so plain and so obvious
and so simple. And yet everybody rushes aroound in a great panic
as if it were necessary to achieve something beyond themselves.

a police procedural, combined with a small town social & psychological analysis spanning a whole season (8 episodes) - i'm sure it's been done before, but this is just outstanding! i love the british southern shore, i love the less-than-perfect main characters (olivia colman as ellie miller is a brave choice), but what i love most:
the first season is dedicated to solving the crime.
the second season is dedicated to the trial.
and both seasons just rock.

Pretty cool video. It's the "Map of Philosophy" it goes into the meaning and history of different forms of logic, philosophy, how they connect, and how they formed and work off each other. I was a philosophy major at one point in my life, so it's pretty interesting to me atleast xD
Talks about the relationship of math, science and how some branches try to bridge the gap to religion and ethics.

Much of it was filmed in my town, which is actually on the opposite coast to Dorset, although they used that for most of the wide, spectacular views.
ATM I'm watching Liverpool winning at Watford - come you Reds

oh, nice.
i envy you.
not sure what you mean by opposite coast though? across the bay? yeah, don't answer, the wikipedia says it's been done in multiple locations anyway, and dorset is good enough for me.
believe it or not, seen from scandinavia, the south of england seems to have a very lovely & mild climate...

I just saw Split (2016) the other day. Good for its genre. Picking up prequel Unbreakable (2000) next and looking forward to sequel Glass (2019).

The Honourable Woman - imo it's a bit slow to get going, but after a few episodes you're hooked and just have to see the story through to the end...
edit:
don't let the title mislead you, this is full on political thriller.

So, I've started watching that vintage advertising series … Mad Men. It's so full of truly fresh quotes and lines and scenes, it's sparkling.
"I am so glad that I got to roam those hillsides."
Hohoho.
Wait I have to add these lines here:
The """rejuvinator""" gives you """flush""" and """glow""".
I'm feeling entertained. Episode S1E11 is absolutely not for children

I'm getting to know the Texas tune and jargon by watching 'King of The Hill' (Mike Judge and Craig Daniels). I laugh a lot 'cause the town in which I grew up has a good deal of redneck population and they do the same stuff as you'll see in the animation, despite being a few thousands kilometers away from the States.

Have been watching The Bridge - first season a while ago, second season just now.
Crime series with an international twist.
Saga Norén is weird.
Central to the series is the bridge between Denmark and Sweden (Copenhagen - Malmö), and the Police working together on international cases.
And the fact that the Danish and Swedish language are so similar that communication is possible.
If you can bear watching sth. non-english with subtitles, watch this.

At first I thought it's just another glorified morally justified redneck violence revenge thang, but boy was I wrong!
Immediately sucked up all 4 seasons of it. Never seen anything like it.

at first i thought it was a little too simplistic, a crime/mob story with a sci-fi twist, but after about 30min things started getting really mindblowing.

I previously wrote down some praise here for the Korean movie Inside Men. Today, I found a very similar TV series called Stranger (English market only) (originally 비밀의 숲) featuring the main character's actor from the mentioned film (and a couple of other actors, feels like at least 20% overlap). The show is on Netflix (in Korean, English subtitles) and it's very good – strongly recommended. I should learn Korean.
