Re: BL and CB++ discussion ongoing at reddit

I was probably the most vocal when CB++ posted on the #! forums, I particularly disliked the Clash logo that used Philip's face. Then Philip posted that he was fine with it and I've been meh ever since.

I was much less tolerant of Monara, but that ship has sailed too.

BunsenLabs has been quite successful so far, despite our missteps. The Team truly begrudges nobody for trying to spin their own distro. We couldn't be happier about ArchLabs, for instance.

Re: BL and CB++ discussion ongoing at reddit

Can only say, thanks Beaker, likely knew you are a BL fan or wouldn't have bothered joining this forum. Any edit to whatever this nixer expressed is imo ... BAD FORM. The guy/Beaker just expressed his opinions and thus is totally in the right imo.

As for offending xyz person(s) shouldn't matter imo, let the truth ring kinda thing. Too many people trying to hide it as is. Bottomline opinion on my part Bunsenlabs release(s) are kickarse and CB++ could very well be too.

I am still curious for the details of the differences between the two spins though.

I just had the same thought too. From time to time I' like to hop around in the distro-world and for me it's never about "this is better, that is better", but more about trying out new solutions (like Deepin had an interesting user interface) or something unique. It'd be interesting to know what does "more lightweight" imply, but it's surely good to know about all the different flavors (as I have not found CB++ on distrowatch).

@ beaker

Well, the thread has gone OT from the OP.  But there are 4 mods here looking for you to make a comparison.  I personally think it would be a healthy exchange of 'opinions' and ideas.  The only one you have to worry about is damo - but only if he catches you nibbling on his biscuits.

We won't close the thread, there is still the matter of the OP.  I could split this into a "comparison thread" if you're willing (beaker) to talk about the differences as you see them.

Re: BL and CB++ discussion ongoing at reddit

I run this on a Compaq Presario C700. Intel Celeron 550 CPU.  2Gb ram. Intel graphics. Does have a 128Gb ssd. Don't run swap. I install 64bit.

OOTB, in comparison to BL, cpu is quieter, less ram is used. In general use CB++ feels snappier and faster.

CB++ will upgrade to sid with minimum fuss (BL will not) although in this instance I'm still running stable.

I am not affliated with CB++ in any way and don't participate in their forums or discussions. I am not a fanboi of CB++ it's just that on all the hardware I've tried it on, it runs better.
