Debian 9 freeze soon - what are our plans?

Hey guys,

Is it too soon for us to synchronize our release efforts with Debian? Here's my thought process:

The packages and versions in Stretch right now will only receive minor bugfixes and security updates until Stretch goes stable. Maybe this is a good time for us to begin work on the next BL isos/releases? I'd be game for smoke testing and helping any way possible.

Additionally, do we have anything on the docket for the next release, insofar as new features / changes / major bugfixes or anything like that?

Thanks!

This distribution is based on Debian's stable release so the most useful thing people can do at the moment is install Debian stretch and go bug-hunting smile

EDIT: by the way, the "soft" freeze has already started wink

EDIT2: From that mailing list post:

Delays caused by RC bugs, other packages, slow buildds,
"C-x M-c M-butterfly" (etc.) are *not* an excuse to be late

That "butterfly" bit is an XKCD reference:

This, I'd say. Try running the current bunsen-* packages on Stretch and report back any problems and/or fixes you find. Maybe start a thread for each issue in "Development"?

And thanks, Cloverskull, for the offer of help - we'll need it!

We'll start a general discussion thread in the "Development" section soon on the best roadmap.
