$500? LOL. I wish.

But, I guess that technically the ads are paying for the "free" games.

So...Bloomberg is expecting the online advertising bubble to burst sometime soon?  I'm surprised it hasn't happened already.

The servant lifted off a kind of ottoman a long peacock-blue drapery, rather of the nature of a domino, on the front of which was emblazoned a large golden sun, and which was splashed here and there with flaming stars and crescents. “You’re to be dressed as Thursday, sir,” said the valet somewhat affably.

This letter is all cute. As if any US company could be trusted not to be subject to any law enforcement or surveillance intervention. They try to steal a medium-sized dose of compassion and maybe be a tear or two from you. Also, as if their phones are unexploitable. Just bring out a couple of baseband 0-days and you control the phone top to bottom.

If users encrypt their communication is there anything anyone without the keys can do to open it?

I'm with Apple on this one; whatever the "But"s and "Nevertheless"s are.

Incidentally this also means that the general public is slowly waking up to the topic of online privacy/safety/security.

I just went from a rather beardy full beard (which I've had for nearly 2 years) and kinda long-ish hair to short, spiked-up hair and neatly trimmed moustache+goatee. Confused a ton of people (muahaha)  monkey

I want a full analysis of this video, because it is freaking me out. 3 possibilities...

It's altered digitally or in some other way. If so, ha ha meh.

This actually happened, in which case... oh my Gaaaad! Backing up on 2 legs like he knows the wall is there?That little robot back-and-forth to sit down? What the...?

This happened but the video is playing in reverse, in which case... arm yourselves and shoot any cat on sight, they're coming for you and will eat your body leaving behind just your head and sweetbreads as some sort of grim calling card. It puts the lotion on its skin or else it gets the hose again. Die, hellcats!!!

Re: Completely Off Topic Chat

For some reason the httpd status pages (e.g. 404) use the Comic Sans typeface. This \
patch removes comic sans and sets the typeface to the default sans-serif typeface of \
the client.

This lowers the number of people contacting website maintainers with typeface \
complaints bordering on harassment.

big_smile What could possibly be wrong about that font! I expect the change to be reverted by Theo himself soon because that font is on all his slides...

Re: Completely Off Topic Chat

Remember those little quad USB expansion hubs?  I stumbled across an old one (a freebie promotional thing with some drug company's branding on it) and on a lark plugged a mouse & keyboard into it and plugged that into the micro-USB port in my cheap Jellybean tablet.  It actually recognized the mouse!  To me, the lack of a mouse has always been the biggest drawback of fondleslabs; the ability to use a cheap USB hub as a dock can be a game changer for anyone wanting to downsize from an energy hogging desktop PC.

I'll have to try plugging in an external HD.

^ The desktop I built has a 300W PSU; in hindsight, I consider that excessive, considering my beloved netbook had a TDP of 9.1W. /counter-raspberry/

Re: Completely Off Topic Chat

just because it has a 300W PSU doesn't mean it actually uses up that much power. Try a kill-a-watt first

At the very least you'll gain enlightenment.

template <typename x, typename... xs, template<typename> class f>
struct Fmap<List<x, xs...>, f> {
    using type = cons_t<
        typename f<x>::type,
        fmap_t<List<xs...>, f>>;
};

Re: Completely Off Topic Chat

One of the extra buttons on one of my mice ( I use two constantly), which was broken (you had to press really hard to click), was fixed after I spilled coffee on them today.  (after it dried out completely obviously)
and the second one didn't suffer any damages also.

today was a good day=)

So I wasn't wrong with my impression that hot coffee is always hot enough to reflow circuit boards :^)
