No, after I returned the DT770s I got a pair of Beyer Custom Studios instead -> https://www.beyerdynamic.de/custom-studio.html . These are DT770s modified with a bass slider that alters the response curve of the cans and an impedance fixed at 80 Ohms (see page 2 @ https://www.beyerdynamic.de/amfile/file … t_id/3702/ ). These are pretty perfect headphones, but now discontinued (why the hell). I would recommend getting Custom Studios over any DT770 every day. I'm currently wondering which headphones to get next, my brain says try the DT880s but maybe a different style would be good as well? Anyhow, before new headphones I need a new DAC, the FIIO is too weak, after getting a smartphone and an Apple 3.5mm USB-C DAC and listening to it a bit I am getting the unsettling feeling that this $10 piece of equipment is driving my Custom Studios better (more precise, not necessarily louder) than the Fiio e10k I currently have which cost $60. Probably going to get a Topping model in the $200 range next. That will be enough to break into 250 to 300 Ohm headphone territory and there the selection will be bigger.

To add to their charme, the Custom Studios are almost fully compatible with the spare parts from the DT770 series so there's no shortage in repair materials. Another killer feature on these is the detachable cable which for some braindead reason most of the basic DT8xx/DT7xx/DT9xx don't have.

Anyhow.

ELO - Roll Over Beethoven (original 1973 promo). I think I prefer the album version but this is worth a watch;

Re: What are you listening to right now?

I love early ELO. Olé ELO is an early (1976) greatest hits album, check it out. I had it on vinyl and played the crap out of it on my cheap-but-great (I had a good stylus, damn I miss that orange-red band to dial in the revs) early '80s direct-drive Technics turntable. 10538 Overture into Kuiama is a completely unique sound for the time (*cough, heavily Beatles influenced on 10538*), and pretty damn epic...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vSwDLav … GQ2pLhnSzm

Kuiama is amazing.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Preview of my next radio show (25 minutes, 22-ish seconds, no narration other than station IDs). I'm getting better. I know music is subjective and I'm highly biased regarding my own work, but I'm getting better with these high school mix-tapes. Also, some sick so-called person liked my fiddle-feedback track, so nyeah! tongue

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Yes it is! I've got "Ole ELO" too, it had to be imported as a special order (had to wait several weeks for it and cost me about £6 in 1977, which was half as much as much again as most single albums were).

I'd largely lost interest in the band by the time they went disco in the late seventies and Jeff started singing falsetto, which I don't think suited him or the band at all ("Horace Wimp", "Wild West Hero" etc.), though I have a soft spot for "Mr Blue Sky" with its cheery lyrics; "Hey you with the pretty face, welcome to the human race", etc.

The unexpected new EP from Robin Guthrie (Cocteau Twins guitarist,'80s-'90s). All for Nothing is the track, springtime is the EP, and instrumental dream pop is the genre...

This guy is the real deal, self taught blues hall of fame, and I have been lucky enough in the last two years to see his show several times. He plays locally in my area a lot since Covid, and sometimes shows up alone just to play at some of my local bars where nobody worries too much about being together.

There was an era of psychedelic Cambodian bands once. Probably most of them were wiped out by Pol Pot. sad

Not fit in???!!??? It's trippy-ass dub, sounds unreal with headphones. Yeah that's the stuff. Video unavailable, but I found it easily. Putting a couple of tracks on the next show (in 2 weeks). Thanks for the heads up!
