Re: What are you listening to right now?

Well, I can think of one track, at least, that redeems Eric Clapton. Going Down Slow. Here's a great live version...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vvUwi5TRGSI

But it's nothing compared to the album track, which is a blues masterpiece with some of the most controlled wah pedal I've ever heard. And weird how the lead guitar is barely audible after the intro (the head) until the solo and then disappears again until it's just Eric singing in a bathtub or something, but we'll come back to that...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eBUHDs8eN7w

-edit- Not the usual Rip Stop from Retail Therapy Clapton follow up, but similar, just more ambient. Donna (from T.D.F. - Retail Therapy, 1997)...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xlZAP6vpimY

Again from Retail Therapy, more adult contemporary. Pnom Sen. This one's really good as well...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fy9IpGCRrCI

Angelica...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HnuXM7n … 2I&index=2

Blue Rock (I quite like this one. The electric guitar is subtly tearing it up, but it's so in the distance of the mix that it's doubly subtle. While several other less distorted guitar parts get featured more prominently, though maybe more subtly now that I've mentioned the lead guitar part, which you now cannot unhear. And it starts with what sounds like cicadas, which are annoying as hell, so well done)...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GwZGwz2 … 2I&index=3

And that, IMO, is a definite shout-out to what Santana was producing at the time.

And, yes, Rip Stop and it's average drum and bass, awesome solo electric guitar and really good retro video...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=49NpZ7t … 2I&index=4

@John, you can say that your not a fan of Clapton and I'll understand. Just don't say that the man can't craft great arrangements and execute some exceptional guitar parts. There's a reason he's been so popular for so long. Not a fan of his vocals? That's a valid criticism.

It's like me saying I don't like Elton John. I hate Elton John. Shitty lyrics which he didn't even write, generally bad singing and worse guitar parts. Did he even have guitar parts? Rocket Man, I guess.  But the man is, by any measure, one of the most successful popular musicians of all time. A number 1 billboard hit for something like 20 years. I don't know, I didn't Google it, but I know it's a massive stat. My opinion does nothing to change that. And I still like Benny and the Jets, and the song with Kiki Dee. Don't Go Breaking My Heart.

zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Heart! Break! Don't!

Sorry, I snoozed off. Bad dream. And Whatever Gets You Thru The Night with John Lennon. And Elton's cover of Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds, that one's a great cover...

Re: What are you listening to right now?

And to end my spam, Busta Rhymes and Dr. Dre finally released their new album. It only took them ten years. Worth the wait.

Extinction Level Event 2: The Wrath of God (obvious;y nsfw, explicit and most likely offensive lyrics)

https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=O … eRKkrZW4dU

Some gorgeous music mixed in with all that harshness. Eh, dobbie?

And full of ol' skool. In love with the Bell Biv Devoe remix, and that's track 3? 4?

But the standout track is YUUUUU. Not safe for work or life, blah blah...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f9wNNpNrXPA

-edit- The "skull in a tux" album art isn't taken entirely from Tim Burton's Jack Skeleton (which is also derivative, I saw what I thought was the original inspiration/piece at the old Tate in London in 2001 but can't remember the artist or title). It's also taken from The Residents. Only their skull is an eyeball...

My Roberta Flack favorite is Killing Me Softly. It almost always makes me cry.

alipro with a novelty (fun but pointless) song on their latest album: 恋する和牛 (beloved Japanese beef). It's about delicious wagyuu and how good it tastes. <https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NE2t9jgNckI>

Some Lake Street Dive, some Vulfpeck, and a lot of Marcus King.
