Really Grumpy, Gloomy and Miserable Items for the Day

What a jolly good idea @damo (from the Cheery pic of the day thread)

Everyone post your miserable stuff here!

For me, my miserable item is I ran out of chocolate and the food delivery isn't due until Monday afternoon.

If I get really desperate for sugar, we have some pretty grim Helter Skelter ice lollies in the fridge.

Picture of sad lollies.

Re: Really Grumpy, Gloomy and Miserable Items for the Day

^ That stuff looks pretty gloomy...

My kids (at work) found a package of some "super sour fruit candy" in the playground and were very fascinated by it. It had pictures of skulls and various fruity-looking shapes, along with the appropriate slogans.
I wanted to shock them by reading them the list of ingredients, but couldn't find it.
The kids pointed at the pictures of coloured shapes and said: that's the list of ingredients! - Yeah, it said that it contains melon-flavoured, blueberry-flavoured etc. candy. I said I bet there's no melon at all in it. Or blue- or in fact any berry. But I digress...

I mused about how this stuff is supposed to look kindof tough, which is bullshit because it's candy.

Then I saw someone online with the username "LilDeadGirl" and realised it's the same thing: a combination of death & darkness on one hand, and cuteness and childlikeness on the other - opposites, one would think! A skull & crossbones Hello Kitty...

There was a song in the 1980s about a shoehorn with teeth, and that people should get beat up for stating their belief.
But in the 2020s it is the norm, it's understood that everybody wants a shoehorn with teeth.
I blame the entertainment, toy and candy industry.

I'll post later, I'm sure, but I'm in a pretty good mood so I shouldn't go down that road right now.  glasses

^ nice one - I particularly love that "I" is Uncle Sam, i.e. the US of NA.

Nice mold btw, how long has that been sitting at the back of your fridge?
Maybe I should take a close look at the nether regions of my own fridge - now there's a gloomy thought - let's leave it at that!

Come on, now. Janet Leigh was never gloomy, not even in Psycho. Just insanely hot as always.

I mean, that's not even a particularly attractive photo of her (she's been chewed off at the waist by a shark!), and she's still melting the camera.

Re: Really Grumpy, Gloomy and Miserable Items for the Day

Currently there's a lot of information about the state of the US police. Those are really gloomy and miserable items that make me very grumpy.
This one sums it up pretty good: https://www.pbs.org/video/frontline-policing-police/
Recommend a full watch.
And I'm aware that it's only about Newark, but combined with all the other information I got around the net in the past weeks, it seems representative.
Quite a few quoteworthy bits, e.g. "75% of police stop-and-frisk actions are unconstitutional", or how the 911 call center's computer system has broken down...

One more, about (online) discussions about how bad things are in the USA:
There's a distinct tendency to extrapolate from the state of affairs in the USA, to the state of the world. As a matter of fact. Not even stopping to think that things might be different - better - in the significantly larger rest of the world.
That makes me extra grumpy!
