Re: What are you listening to right now?

Closed back headphones with passive or passive/active noise-cancelling. They prevent gunshots, stabbings, missing pets, etc...

Some Alan Holdsworth, fusion represent...

Dave Holland on bass, Herbie Hancock on keys, Pat Metheny on guitar, and Jack DeJohnette on drums...

It's pretty amazing that Pat has had a monopoly on that Roland guitar synth sound for decades now. Who else uses it?

Re: What are you listening to right now?

I think I am that neighbour - everyone else is pretty quiet in my block of apartments, even those with kids.
big_smile
Nevertheless, some time ago one neighbour had his subwoofer against the wall to my apartment and watching an action movie sounded like airplanes taking off outside. Also my downstairs neighbour noticed.
So I went to neighbour No.1's apartment and told him: "Look, everybody else would've called the police instead of coming to you first. This is me being a good neighbor: please do something about your home theatre."
He did.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

My neighbours know that we have a child, they don't care. They have at least one loud party that goes on into the small hours, once a week.

Our daughter is 14 and a half months now and goes to bed at 7pm. Their party was 6pm to midnight on this occasion and extremely loud, complete with shouting, screaming and cheering.

You have the perfect excuse to ask them to turn it down. It has ten little fingers and ten little toes.

Perhaps you could have played Clint Eastwood saying "You have to ask yourself one question: Do I feel lucky? Well do ya, punk?"

Re: What are you listening to right now?

Some introspective (a.k.a. artsy-fartsy, beautifully filmed and decently recorded, and the music is lovely) music released this month.

Ryuichi Sakamoto: Playing the Piano for the Isolated (with Special Guest - Hidejiro Honjoh)...

-edit- Too long;didn't watch, skip to 54:30.

Re: What are you listening to right now?

And the most haunting and stupidest (or purest, your call) song from Japan ever heard in the West's popular culture, The Cosmos sing "Mosura"...

Mothra oh Mothra

If we were to call for help

Over time, over sea, like a wave

You'd come

Our guardian angel

(repeat a few times, then...)

Mothra oh Mothra

Of forgotten kindness and ruined spirits

We pray for the people's spirit as we sing

This song of love

Mothra oh Mothra

If we were to call for help

Over time, over sea, like a wave

You'd come

Our guardian angel

Glass harmonica, and harp, and clarinets. Almost all of the shitty instruments. Needs more bagpipes. tongue

Fuck Tchaikovsky. He's why I quit classical music, and The Nutcracker in particular. Sugar Plum Fairies, give me a break. If you're going to write music about winged monsters... Mosura!

Genesis - Abacab (1981)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbjfesCI254

You're going to have to waterboard me for me to say that the eighties was not the best decade in modern history for music.

A material, B material, back to the A section, C section break, then A and B for the recap. ABACAB.

Daryl Stuermer on guitar doesn't get enough credit, he's amazing. Playing acoustic guitar with Jean-Luc Ponty on fiddle, 1976...
