Re: What do you listen to - Internet streaming a.k.a radio and such?

Maybe it was just something on the webpage that was broken. I think I found the streaming.live link on some back page...

edge2 might be the better one to use then.

But the stream certainly hasn't been down, at least here.

I think that's what these meta streaming sites are there for: keep the actual, often changing streaming servers (often on a subdomain or non-standard ports) hidden from the end user and give them a simple static URL instead.

I'm rather pedestrian in my radio tastes.

I am an insomniac, so listen to radio overnight. Usually talkradio, lbc or BBC London.

Talkradio on Sunday nights because I like "The unexplained.. with Howard Hughes"

I miss the old days when Clive Bull did late night Radio on LBC.

Thanks for tuning in John, it's good to have a fan. I missed the show's broadcast, I fell asleep. tongue BTW, I thought the fade in of Natural Mystic after the fade out of the Jammin' dub was one of my better mixes. Also Hyperspace into No Diggity, which immediately followed. Thanks for noticing.

My coworker was playing it in the restaurant yesterday and I asked him what I was hearing. So glad I did. It's pretty French-centric, but in any given half hour you're likely to hear Sinatra, Piaf, reggae, opera or a string quartet or a Mozart piano concerto or all three, Ella, Sachmo, African-influenced-Fela-David Byrne type funk/soul, and some weird folk music. Really great radio. As I said, very eclectic. Bonus, advertisement free, and they have a phone app.

@jR, Glad you're listening!

Re: What do you listen to - Internet streaming a.k.a radio and such?

Re-visiting dublab.
After a few years, some streaming URLs have changed.
It's a little confusing, lots of sister projects, not all of them streamable.
Very different genres, but always music, and if you hit on a good one you can usually stay with it for a while.
After half an hour of sleuthing, I came up with these links:

# dublab.com
https://dublab.com/streams/dubstream
https://dublab.out.airtime.pro/dublab_a
# dublab.de
http://dublabde.out.airtime.pro:8000/dublabde_a
https://dublabde.out.airtime.pro/dublabde_a
https://dublabde.out.airtime.pro/dublabde_b
http://dublabde.out.airtime.pro:8000/dublabde_b
# dublab.es
https://samcloud.spacial.com/api/listen?sid=86556
# dublab.com.br
http://n02.radiojar.com/64yv74qzb0quv.mp3

And one podcast feed:
Live at dublab Radio

I wish I could find a way to stream dublab.jp with a desktop media player, but it uses a very fancy mixcloud widget that neither mpv nor youtube-dl nor mocp know how to deal with...

ohnonot wrote:

I love puzzles like this...

First off, I've been listening for the last hour to the current show on dublab.jp and loving it (old Egyptian jazz + α + α), so thanks for the dublab reminder anyway. cool

I don't know if dublab.jp ever have a live stream going, but at the moment mixcloud and something called https://mixlr.com/dublabjp are reporting off-air.

OK youtube-dl (I don't have mocp installed) can't open dublab.jp, confirmed. The "LATEST SHOW" box is an i-frame from https://www.mixcloud.com/widget/iframe/ … emerald%2F but ytdl can't open that url either.

On the far right of the player widget, though, is a link maked "Mixcloud" that goes to https://www.mixcloud.com/dublabjp/dubla … j-emerald/
That one is usable by youtube-dl or mpv. smile

But if you don't want to open a browser every time to get the url of the latest dublab.jp show (assuming you're OK with a show, not a 24/7 stream) then you have to either:

1) start from https://dublab.jp, get the url of the iframe (above) and find the mixcloud link in that source code. The same url appears several times, but this might be the best one:

<a class="widget-title" href="/dublabjp/dublabjp-radio-collective-234-in-every-second-dream-egypt2092-by-dj-emerald/" target="_blank">dublab.jp Radio Collective #234 “In Every Second Dream - EGYPT”(20.9.2) by DJ Emerald</a>

So you could grep for something like 'dublab.jp Radio Collective #[0-9]{3}'... (The url needs prefixing with https://www.mixcloud.com of course.)

or

2) Look on jublab.jp's Mixcloud page https://www.mixcloud.com/dublabjp/ and get the link to the show at the top  of the list. (Looking there I see that not every show at all is named "Radio Collective" so #1 will need revising.)
The links all seem to be inside <a> tags like this:

<a class="AudioCardTitle__PlainLink-sc-1kxsru9-0 AudioCardTitle__TitleLink-sc-1kxsru9-4 jKwuem" href="/dublabjp/dublabjp-radio-collective-234-in-every-second-dream-egypt2092-by-dj-emerald/">dublab.jp Radio Collective #234 “In Every Second Dream - EGYPT”(20.9.2) by DJ Emerald</a>

BUT that content is only visible by select/view selection source. It's not in the page source, so must be generated by all the javascript. roll

Back to 1)
It would be very messy in a one-liner but a script to pull the source of https://dublab.jp, extract the url of the iframe and then get the Mixcloud link from that, might be doable.
stuff like:

curl -s https://dublab.jp | grep -o 'src="https://www.mixcloud.com/widget/iframe/[^"]*'
# returns
src="https://www.mixcloud.com/widget/iframe/?hide_cover=1&mini=1&light=1&feed=%2Fdublabjp%2Fdublabjp-radio-collective-234-in-every-second-dream-egypt2092-by-dj-emerald%2F

# use that url:
curl -s "https://www.mixcloud.com/widget/iframe/?hide_cover=1&mini=1&light=1&feed=%2Fdublabjp%2Fdublabjp-radio-collective-234-in-every-second-dream-egypt2092-by-dj-emerald%2F" | grep -o '<a class="widget-title"[^>]*'
# returns
<a class="widget-title" href="/dublabjp/dublabjp-radio-collective-234-in-every-second-dream-egypt2092-by-dj-emerald/" target="_blank"

Sorry if you've already tried that, or it isn't what you want. As I said, I enjoy messing with this stuff anyway.

mpv https://www.mixcloud.com/dublabjp/

it finds the first, plays it, then automatically goes to the next item.

So it does! How did I check all the other urls I found but forget to feed that one to youtube-dl or mpv? roll

I can just

mpv https://www.mixcloud.com/dublabjp/

That's very impressive work by youtube-dl. If you view the source code of https://www.mixcloud.com/dublabjp (Firefox Ctrl+U or curl -s) there's no content to speak of, just a single line that invokes one javascript script after another. Select a part of the displayed web page in Firefox, right-click, "view selection source" and you can see the html that all that scriptery has created.

---
This means that you can give mpv any Mixcloud account and just play (or download) the shows, one after the other. I'm going to add dublab.jp and a couple of others to my media menu right away. smile

I already knew about:
https://www.mixcloud.com/farsideradio/
https://www.mixcloud.com/SpinTheGlobe/

Just found:
https://www.mixcloud.com/RedLightRadio/

Any favourites?

It's a pity that simple players like radiotray-ng can't handle this. An mpv frontend something like radiotray(-ng) would be nice. Handle bookmarks, occupy almost no desktop space or memory and pop up when needed...

Re: What do you listen to - Internet streaming a.k.a radio and such?

Resonance FM
Quite interesting London-based community radio - mix of music & discussion, sounds...

I can't remember if this was posted before, but my streaming link stopped working a while ago.
Finally found this one which works in mpv (doesn't seem to use youtube-dl) and vlc but only intermittently in radiotray-ng (my usual source) which complains about "bad data".
Anyway, try: http://stream.resonance.fm/resonance-backup

EDIT: http seems to work better than https with some clients.
