Awesome, it's incredible the influence Lord of the Rings has had on Black Metal.

Indeed, and somehow..the story and theme just 'fits' well. Same with Moby Dick. Reading the book, I can't help but associate it's idea's with dark gloomy metal.

Totally agree.  One of these days I am going to compile a list of Black Metal bands that have named themselves after something from LOTR.

Heh, it's funny, I clicked and began listening before, but I heard the opening fake growling/talking and it made me roll my eyes, so I closed it. But now that you said, give it a shot, I went back to it, and boy, I'm glad I did. It's right up my alley once you get past the opening.  I love the song "A Failed Exorism" on that album.  Very crunchy and slow!    Thanks as always!

Ultra Melodic Black Metal

Lol, you pulled me in with "Ultra Melodic Black Metal" but my issue with it..is that a lot of the songs have the same slow melodic opening...then fast and furious!

I'm currently listening to this which I found last night, but didn't have the time to stick with it...giving it another go. Not as slow and doomy as I like, but it's not a bad listen so far!

Savatage - Hall of the Mountain King

I believe this counts. No one would mistake me for a metalhead, but I can dig the more traditional stuff.
