What Are You Listening To? MetalHead Edition

It was suggested (in jest of course) that us MetalHeads have our own thread.  So here it is, post away fellow Metallers.

I had no idea Paradise Lost were still going -- I saw them live back in the '90s cool

The Mastodon Leviathan album isn't new, they've put out like 3 -4 albums since lol  big_smile
But it's still one of my favorites.

I know, I meant to say Leviathan is one of my favorite albums. Both are always on my car's CD case.

Wow Soulfly, the battle between the age of Sepultura and NuMetal  big_smile
Now, dont get me wrong (Max you are a god to me back then) i love this time of metal in history. And so:
Sepultura - Roorback
Yay Sep without Max (love him, love Derek too) with a hardcore influenced black male. Not the first but the best album after Max and what a shock to the racists tongue

Lowrider......no smile  (joking)

Derrick era Sepultura is just as good (for me at least) as Pre-Chaos era Sepultura.I don't like Roots or Chaos AD at all.

Re: What Are You Listening To? MetalHead Edition

I'm not really a fan of dark, doomy, gloomy metal, but I do enjoy more upbeat metal like Satriani.

...or is this even considered Metal these days?  Is this now Classic Rock?

Re: What Are You Listening To? MetalHead Edition

^ I think it was classified "virtuoso shred rock" back in the day, or something along those lines. The whole rock/metal evolution is kind of interesting. Stuff that was considered metal back in the 70s doesn't even pass for hard rock these days. Heck, I think most stuff made with "standard" six-string axes are automatically disqualified from metal now. You need that chuggy seventh (or even eight? Hello Tosin) string.

^ Tell me about it; I cut my teeth on Classic/Hard Rock.

Where do heavy electronica artists like Knife Party fall on this continuum?
