What window manager do you run.  I have 3 computers of that vintage, als HP/Compaq, I'm using xfce.

I have one IBM Laptop and 2 mini-pc's with Pentium M and 500 mb ram. Tested most lightwieght: XFCE. LXQT, Openbox, FFWM, JVM and...

Settled for BL with Openbox for those old ones too...

Pentium M is interesting as it's a cross of Pentium 3 with Pentium 4. This makes it include the SSE2 instructions, which is a prerequisite to run software like Firefox. Pentium 3 alone would not be able to run a lot of modern software. Pentium M => released in 2003. Nice to see that old hardware does not have to go to waste. Maybe alright as a home automation hub, albeit the energy consumption must be really unreserved smile
